In the conductive organic thin film, the organic molecules are aligned, and the conjugate group of each molecule is polymerized with the conjugate group of another molecule so that a conductive network is formed. This conductive organic thin film has an optical switching function, having a conductivity that varies in response to irradiation of light.

The device of this invention comprises an optoelectronic element (1), a cover (2), and an adhesive (70). The optoelectronic element comprises a substrate (10) bearing an anode (20, 21), a film comprising an optoelectronic material (30), and a cathode (41, 42). The cover comprises a lid (50) and a raised rim (60) which is recessed from the outer edge of the lid. The cover (2) contacts the element (1) so that the film comprising the optoelectronic material (30) is located between the substrate and the lid, and within the region defined by the raised rim (60). An adhesive (70), located in a channel defined by the bottom surface of the lid from the outer edge to the rim, the rim, and the top surface of the optoelectronic element outside of the region defined by the rim, serves to attach the cover to the optoelectronic element.
