A multi-angle colorimeter (100) employs a multi-angle mode and a symmetrical arrangement mode in an optical arrangement. Light detection on both sides of the symmetrical arrangement is performed by a single photodetector unit (41). The photodetector unit (41) is used on both sides, and thus, the device becomes simpler, without any impact on individual difference in characteristics of multiple photodetector units. Conversely, elements for illumination can be used on both sides. Also in a case where multiple photodetector units are used, the size and cost of the device can be reduced with the use of a photodetector unit having a relatively low wavelength resolution as a photodetector unit to be used on one side. This enables to reduce an attitude error due to relative tilting of a measurement surface while reducing the size and cost of the device.

An apparatus for imaging one or more selected fluorescence indications from a microfluidic device (205). The apparatus includes an imaging path coupled to least one chamber in at least one microfluidic device (205). The imaging path provides for transmission of one or more fluorescent emission signals derived from one or more samples in the at least one chamber of the at least one microfluidic device (205). The chamber has a chamber size, the chamber size being characterized by an actual spatial dimension normal to the imaging path. The apparatus also includes an optical lens system (210, 212) coupled to the imaging path. The optical lens system is adapted to transmit the one or more fluorescent signals associated with the chamber.

An illuminating device is provided that includes, but is not limited to a cylindrical lighting unit with a cylindrical slit diaphragm arranged in the interior thereof. The lighting unit includes, but is not limited to a cylindrical light source with a cylindrical diffusor arranged therein, and the slit diaphragm has a cylinder with axially extending slits that are arranged in such a way that incident beams coupled in perpendicular to the slit diaphragm axis (O) converge in a point (M) that is spaced apart from the cylinder axis in the interior of the slit diaphragm through the slits.
Abstract:
Fluorescing gel formulations are disclosed for monitoring cleaning of a surface. The fluorescing gel formulations are stable, fluoresce under UV light, and do not leave a mark after drying and removal. The compositions include an oppositely charged complexing agent which is used in combination with an anionic or cationic optical brightener. In some embodiments, the compositions include a cationic optical brightener with no complexing agent.

Um eine Anlage zur Überwachung der Arbeitsraumatmosphäre einer Arbeitsmaschine zu verbessern, wird eine Messvorrichtung (2) vorgeschlagen mit einem Saugmittel (8), das ein Aerosol-Luftgemisch aus dem Arbeitsraum (4) der Arbeitsmaschine absaugt und einer optischen Sensoreinheit mit zumindest einem optischen Emitter (15) und zumindest einem optischen Empfänger (17) zuführt. Mit einer Elektronikeinrichtung wird die optische Sensoreinheit betrieben. Das Saugmittel ist als Druckluftstrahlpumpe (8) mit einer Druckluftzufuhr (26), einer Druckluftdüse (32), einemvorzugsweise trichterförmigen Druckableitungskanal und einem Unterdruckbereich (10) ausgebildet, wobei die Druckluftdüse (32) eine Austrittsrichtung hat, die im Wesentlichen in Richtung des Druckableitungskanal gerichtet ist. Die Druckluftzufuhr (26) ist mit einer Druckluftquelle verbindbar. Am Unterdruckbereich (10) ist eine mit dem Arbeitsraum (4) der Arbeitsmaschine verbindbare Saugleitung (12) angeschlossen. The detection is provided by a FRET signal emitted from labeled tRNA molecules which are juxtaposed during synthesis of the protein.

The container (10) is positioned in the holder (110) so that a longitudinal axis (60) of the cuvette (20) is angled relative a horizontal axis (70). A light source (120) provides light (40) into the sample (30) and a detector (130) detects the output light (50) from a sub-portion of the blood sample (30). Kinetic information indicative of the change in hemoglobin concentration in a measuring volume (32, 34) is determined by a Hb processor (145) from the detected output light (50). An ESR processor (140) determines the erythrocyte sedimentation rate of the sample (30) based on the kinetic information.

A UV fluorescence detection system and method is provided comprising a dielectric barrier-discharge excimer lamp (100), an applied excitation source for communication with the excimer lamp, a fluorescence chamber (300) having a sample gas containing sulfur dioxide, a light sensitive detector (450) is in operative association with the sample chamber, and a signal analyzing and conditioning device (400) for determining the sulfur dioxide content of the sample. The dielectric barrier-discharge excimer lamp (100) possesses a krypton-chloride excimer fill gas mixture. An excitation interference filter (306) and a fluorescence filter (308) may be used in association with the lamp and chamber.
