Methods and catalysts are provided for performing dewaxing of diesel boiling range fractions, such as trim dewaxing, that allow for production of diesel boiling range fuels with improved cold flow properties at desirable yields. In some aspects, the methods can include use of dewaxing catalysts based on an MEL framework structure (ZSM-11) to provide improved dewaxing activity. In some aspects improved dewaxing is achieved operating at lower pressures and with higher amounts of organic nitrogen slip from hydrotreatment.

A process for reducing a chloride content of a hydrocarbon feed stream involving contacting a hydrocarbon feed stream comprising a chloride containing pyrolysis oil obtained by cracking a chloride containing thermoplastic material with a sulfided catalyst comprising at least one of Co, Mo, and Ni or a catalyst comprising Pd, Pt, Cu, and/or Zn on a catalyst support in the presence of hydrogen gas to reduce one or more organic chloride compounds present in the hydrocarbon feed stream and form a hydrocarbon product stream and HCl. The HCl is removed from the hydrocarbon product stream, wherein the hydrocarbon product stream has a lower chloride content than the hydrocarbon feed stream based on the total weight of the chloride and the total weight of the hydrocarbon feed stream.

This invention relates to a method for hydroprocessing feedstreams containing both sulfur-containing mineral oils and biomass-derived feedstocks in a single reactor configuration. The process produces a desulfurized, deoxygenated and dewaxed hydrocarbon product having reduced oxygen content, increased iso-paraffin content, low n-paraffin content, and good cold flow properties. In preferred embodiments, the processes herein utilize water tolerant hydrodewaxing catalysts in order to prevent deactivation and/or catalyst loss due to water produced during the deoxygenation reactions in the biomass components.

The invention provides for a process for dewaxing a waxy hydrocarbon feedstock to form a lubricant oil. The invention is also directed to a catalyst system comprising a hydrotreating catalyst upstream of a dewaxing catalyst, used in the dewaxing of a waxy hydrocarbon feedstock to form a lubricant oil. In particular, the invention is directed to a process and catalyst system designed to maintain yield of lubricant oil product. Specifically, the yield of lubricant oil does not decrease more than 2%, at a target pour point, over a dewaxing temperature range. The hydrotreating catalyst helps prevent aging of the dewaxing catalyst and maintains lubricant oil product yield at a target pour point over a wide temperature range. The hydrotreating catalyst comprises platinum, palladium, or combinations thereof on a low acidity inorganic oxide support where acidity is measured by a decalin conversion of less than 10% at 700F.

A gas-liquid catalyzed reaction is performed by introducing at least a portion of the reactive gas into the catalyst as a cross-flow or radial-flow stream. Introducing at least a portion of the reactive g as as a radial flow stream allows the reactive gas to travel through the catalyst bed along a shorter path length. This reduces the pressure drop for the radial flow portion of the gas. The reactive gas can be introduced into the catalyst bed at various heights relative to the height of the catalyst bed.
