Dabei wird zunächst der Wurststrang mit einem Füllrohr einer Fülleinheit gefüllt, der gefüllte Wurststrang in Transportrichtung durch die mindestens zwei gegenüberliegenden voneinander beabstandeten Führungselemente, deren Abstand an das Wurstkaliber anpassbar ist, durchgeführt und die Führungselemente um eine erste Achse, die entlang der Transportrichtung verläuft, gedreht, wobei der gefüllte Wurststrang ebenfalls um die erste Achse verdreht wird, wobei gleichzeitig der gefüllte Wurststrang an einer Stelle in Transportrichtung nach einer Stelle in Transportrichtung nach den Führungselementen gegengehalten wird.
