摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed that are useful in bench top sample preparation and filtration techniques, including those related to microwave assisted extraction and partial digestion. In one aspect the method includes the steps of positioning a microwave-transparent matrix removal tool (40) in a microwave transparent reaction vessel (37) adding a matrix-based composition to the microwave reaction vessel containing the removal tool, applying microwave radiation to the reaction vessel, the matrix-based composition, and the matrix removal tool, and removing the matrix based composition from the reaction vessel using the matrix removal too1. In another aspect the method includes the steps of positioning a matrix based composition that includes at least some liquid in a filter vessel, and applying a moderate over-pressure to the composition upstream of the filter to accelerate the movement of liquid through the filter.

摘要: A microwave heating system is disclosed for enhancing physical and chemical processes. The system includes a microwave source, an antenna having a cable, a receiver for receiving microwaves generated by the source, with the receiver being connected to a first end of the cable, and a transmitter for transmitting microwaves generated by the source, and with the transmitter being connected to an opposite end of the cable. The system also includes a reaction vessel with the transmitter inside the reaction vessel; and microwave shield surrounding the transmitter for preventing microwaves emitted from the transmitter from extending substantially beyond the reaction vessel.

摘要: A system for carrying out microwave assisted chemical reactions is disclosed. The system includes a source of microwave radiation (11); a cavity (12) in communication with the source (11), an attenuator (13) in communication with the cavity (12) for providing access to the cavity while preventing microwaves from escaping through the attenuator (13), and a vessel (16) positioned in the cavity (12) and the attenuator (13) and extending externally of the attenuator for holding materials in the cavity while microwaves from the source are applied thereto. The vessel (16) includes a reaction chamber (23) and a venting portion (22). The chamber (23) portion is positioned entirely within the cavity (12), and the venting portion (22) extends from the cavity (12) and through the attenuator (13) and externally of the attenuator and has a gas passage (24) for permitting gases to flow to or from the reaction portion from gas sources external to the cavity, the attenuator, and the vessel.
