Abstract:
Abstract:
A mixing machine comprising a mixing chamber and at least one rotor rotatable within the mixing chamber about a predetermined axis. The mixing chamber is defined by two end plates arranged generally perpendicular to the rotor axis and two or more wall elements located between the end plates. At least one of the wall elements is rotatable about an axis parallel to the rotor axis between a first position in which facing edges of the wall elements contact each other to define a longitudinal seal and a second position in which a discharge aperture is defined between the facing edges. The wall elements make sealing contact with the end plates when the rotatable wall element as in the first position to define circumferential seals, the seals being so positioned that any material leaking from them is in direct communication with the machine surroundings and can easily escape from the vicinity of the mixing chamber.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of operating a batch mixer for producing first and second numbers of mixtures from first and second numbers of batches of materials to be mixed in the batch mixer, the batch mixer comprising a mixing chamber, a mixing element disposed within the mixing chamber, the mixing element and the mixing chamber being configured for providing an identical flow of the materials to be mixed within the mixing chamber and around the mixing element regardless of in which of the first and second opposite directions the mixing element is rotated, and a motor assembly coupled to the mixing element for rotating the mixing element for mixing the first and second numbers of batches of materials to be mixed for producing the first and second numbers of mixtures. The method comprises the steps of energizing said motor assembly for rotating said mixing element in said first direction, for each one of the first number of batches of the materials to be mixed: loading the one of the first number of batches of materials to be mixed into the mixing chamber, mixing the one of the first number of batches of materials for producing one of the first number of mixtures, and removing the one of the first number of mixtures from the mixing chamber, energizing the motor assembly for rotating the mixing element in the second direction, and for each one of the second number of batches of the materials to be mixed loading the one of the second number of batches of materials to be mixed into the mixing chamber, mixing the one of the second number of batches of materials for producing one of the second number of mixtures, and removing the one of the second number of mixtures from the mixing chamber.
Abstract:
An access entry closure assembly for a drum of a concrete mixer or agitator, comprising a door member (90) and an insert (92), the door member comprising a plate (100) having mounted thereon a latching mechanism comprising a plurality of locking arms (110). Each locking arm is coupled, at a proximal end, to an actuating member (106) and extends substantially radially outwardly toward an edge of said plate (100). A distal end of each locking arm extends beyond the peripheral edge of said plate when in a locking position. The actuating member (106) is arranged and configured, when actuated, to cause linear movement of said locking arms (110) in a direction away from said edge of said plate so as to retract said distal ends thereof, each locking arm being retained in a retaining member (112) defining a slot through which a respective locking arm extends. Each retaining member (112) is provided on said plate and includes a biasing member (114) configured to engage a respective locking arm retained therein and bias said respective locking arm toward said plate.
