Strengthened glass substrates with glass fits and methods for forming the same are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a method for forming a glass frit on a glass substrate may include providing a glass substrate comprising a compressive stress layer extending from a surface of the glass substrate into a thickness of the glass substrate, the compressive stress having a depth of layer DOL and an initial compressive stress CSi. A glass frit composition may be deposited on at least a portion of the surface of the glass substrate. Thereafter, the glass substrate and the glass frit composition are heated in a furnace to sinter the glass fit composition and bond the glass frit composition to the glass substrate, wherein, after heating, the glass substrate has a fired compressive stress CSf which is greater than or equal to 0.70*CSi.

A scaffold for implantation into a mammal to facilitate vessel growth in repair, regeneration, and/or proliferation of bodily tissue, where the scaffold is based on a borate, silicate, or phosphate, glass-former and is biodegradable upon implantation in mammals. The scaffold includes one or more trace elements from the group consisting of Cu, F, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Sr, and Zn which are released into the host to support vessel growth. A method involves implantation of such scaffolds.

The invention relates to a feed-through having a base body, in particular in the form of a preferably disk-shaped metal part. Said base body comprises at least one opening through which at least one conductor, in particular an essentially pin-shaped conductor, embedded in a glass or glass ceramic material, is guided. The invention is characterised in that the base body comprises a material having a low melting point, in particular a light metal, and the glass or glass ceramic material is selected in such a manner that the melting temperature thereof is lower than the melting temperature of the material having a low melting point of the base body.
