Abstract:
The deposition of graphene is accomplished by various techniques that result in a change of the graphene's solubility in the liquid medium. The solubility change enables the deposition of the graphene onto the substrate. Once the graphene is deposited onto the substrate, the at least partially coated substrate may be separated from the liquid medium. The substrates may then serve as a carrier to deliver the graphene to a desired application.

Abstract:
A resin formed body 10 having a surface in which hydrophobic fine particles 11 are distributed, the hydrophobic fine particles having a BET specific surface area of not less than 300 m 2 /g. Despite the hydrophobic fine particles are added in a small amount, the resin formed body exhibits a high water-sliding property and can be used also in the form of a film and a bottle.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polymer composition having improved scratch resistance properties, the composition comprising (i) one or more polymers with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 25 ºC, and (ii) solid particulate material having a surface modified with an organic modifier of formula (I), an organic modifier of formula (I) being the only organic modifier used to modify a surface of the solid particulate material, wherein the solid particulate material is distributed at least throughout a surface layer of the one or more polymers, and wherein the improved scratch resistance is relative to that of the one or more polymers absent the distributed particulate material, (I) where R is selected from a quaternary ammonium cation, a quaternary phosphonium cation, and imidazolium cation and a pyridinium cation; x is an integer ranging from 1-5; Ry is selected from OH, C(O)OH, NH2, SH and CH3; and Z is a counter anion.
Abstract:
The present invention relates at least in part to devices which are capable of indicating the presence of moisture. Embodiments of the present invention involve the provision of a solid dispersion of a color-forming material in a hydrophilic polyurethane material. In particular, although not exclusively, the present invention relates to devices comprising foam, e.g., hydrophilic polyurethane foam and a color former. Also included in the embodiments of the present invention are methods comprising the use of the devices, and other subject matter.
Abstract:
The invention provides a composition comprising core-shell nanoparticles, the nanoparticles comprising (a) cationic core material comprising polymer; and (b) a shell material comprising silica. Preferred core materials comprise diblock copolymer micelles comprising one block of dialkylaminoethyl methacrylate units which are partially or fully quaternised and one block of dialkylaminoethyl methacrylate units that remain non-quaternised. The invention also provides a method for the preparation of the said composition, the method involving (a) preparing a cationic core material comprising polymer; and (b) coating the core material with a shell comprising silica by treating the polymer with a silica precursor under ambient conditions. The invention also envisages a composition comprising core-shell nanoparticles which is adapted to facilitate controlled delivery of at least one active agent into a system in response to controlled changes in the pH of the system.
Abstract:
An aluminum salt-containing resin powder of the present invention includes at lest one matrix resin component selected from regenerated collagen, polyvinyl alcohol and carboxymethyl cellulose; and an aluminum salt. The aluminum salt is chemically bonded to the matrix resin component, and the resultant is powdered. A resin composition of the present invention includes 0.1 wt% or more and 80 wt% or less of the aluminum salt-containing resin powder and 20 wt% or more and 99.9 wt% or less of a resin other than the aluminum salt-containing resin. Thus, the present invention provides an aluminum salt-containing resin powder having a high phosphorus adsorption property, a high antibacterial property and a high antifungal property, and a resin composition containing the aluminum salt-containing resin powder.
Abstract:
Reinforced copolymers formed from a functionalized copolymer that undergoes a reactive extrusion process with an inorganic component to form the reinforced copolymer. The functionalized copolymer in the form of a block and/or graft copolymer includes hard segments and soft segments, where the soft segments are covalently bonded with a coupling agent either before or after copolymerization with the hard segments. The reinforced copolymer of the present disclosure can be suitable for use as a biomaterial and/or in medical devices.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the foams of the polyvinyl chloride nanocomposites comprising of polyvinyl chloride, layered inorganic compounds, and foaming agents. They are effective in that they have superior mechanical strength and non-flammability even with a low specific gravity; demonstrate a high foaming efficiency even with a small amount of a foaming agent; and have an even microcellular structure.
