    摘要: A device and a system are for measuring fluid potential in a plant tissue by measuring pressure changes caused due to osmosis of the plant fluid. The measuring device includes a compartment having a ridged body configured for containing an osmoticum. The compartment has at least one opening; at least two selective barrier layers, such as a membrane positioned at least over the openings of the compartment; and at least one pressure sensor configured for detecting changes in pressure of fluid in the compartment. The selective barrier is located for selectively allowing water transfer between the plant fluid and the osmoticum in the compartment. The compartment is configured such that there is a direct contact between the plant fluid and the osmoticum therein via the selective barrier.

    摘要: A sensor (1) and method for measuring the concentration of one or more chemical substances within a solution. The sensor includes a body of saturated hydrogel (103) held within a sensor body (100). A window (107) allows flow-through of the chemical substance to be measured. The hydrogel (103) is held under a predetermined compressive force within the sensor body (100) such that the hydrogel (103) exerts a base pressure. A pressure sensor (111) such as a strain gauge senses the pressure exerted by the hydrogel (103) within the sensor body (100). The sensed pressure is stored or displayed. The hydrogel (103) is reactive to the one or more chemical substances so that contact causes the hydrogel (103) to either increase the pressure above the base pressure under which the hydrogel (103) to either increase the pressure above the base pressure under which the hydrogel (103) is held or to decrease the pressure relative to the base pressure of the hydrogel (103).
