摘要:
Methods for identifying strains of bacteria, particularly methods for serotyping Streptococcus pneumoniae in a sample, methods for detecting and/or classifying S. pneumoniae infection by serotype, array devices and kits for use in such methods are disclosed. Array devices comprise a set of capture antibodies immobilised on a substrate at pre-determined array positions, wherein the set of capture antibodies comprises serotype-distinguishing antibodies which differ in their binding specificity for different S. pneumoniae serotypes. Serotyping methods may employ whole cell detection utilising one or more detectable labels, including in situ labelling of array-bound cells.
摘要:
Disclosed is a new and emerging serotype of Streptococcus pneumoniae designated serotype 6D, and assays and monoclonal antibodies useful in identifying same. Also disclosed is a novel pneumococcal polysaccharide with the repeating unit ->2) glucose 1 (1->3) glucose 2 (1->3) rhamnose (1->4) ribitol (5->phosphate. This new serotype may be included in pneumococcal vaccines.
摘要:
The present invention relates to synthetic saccharides of general formula (I) that are related to Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 4 capsular polysaccharide and conjugates thereof. Said conjugate and a pharmaceutical composition containing said conjugate are useful for prevention and/or treatment of diseases associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae, and more specifically of diseases associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 4. Furthermore, the synthetic saccharides of general formula (I) are useful as marker in immunological assays for detection of antibodies against Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.

The present invention relates to synthetic saccharides of general formula (I) that are related to Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 8 capsular polysaccharide, conjugates thereof and the use of said saccharides and conjugates for raising a protective immune response in a human and/or animal host. Furthermore, the synthetic saccharide structures of general formula (I) are useful as marker in immunological assays for detection of antibodies against Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.

According to aspects illustrated herein, there are provided a sensor chip suitable for serological detection of Streptococcus pneumoniae, a method for detecting serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae using the sensor chip, a detection system that includes the sensor chip, and a method for detecting serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae using the detection system described herein.
摘要:
Non-naturally occurring peptides are provided that act as a Src SH2 domain antagonist of cardiotonic steroids. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the peptides are also provided along with vectors encoding the peptides. Methods of treating a Src-associated disease and reducing Src activity in a cell are further provided and include administering or contacting a cell with an effective amount of the peptide.

Provided is a method that can more objectively and rapidly determine severity of pneumococcal pneumonia using blood of a subject. The method determines severity of pneumococcal pneumonia, the method including determining the severity based on the presence or absence of a pneumococcal antigen in blood collected from a subject and at least one biochemical value selected from a blood C-reactive protein (CRP) level, a white blood cell (WBC) count and a blood urea nitrogen (BUN) level.

The present invention relates to a method of diagnosing an existing or developing acute pneumonia induced by a microorganism by detecting one or more volatile organic compound(s) in a subject's sample and the use of one or more volatile organic compound(s) for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenza and optionally opportunistic pathogen Candida albicans.
