There is provided a synchronization device capable of, even when transmission timings of a plurality of other ships are different, almost reliably synchronizing with the other ships during a self-ship transmission and is also provided a synchronization method. The synchronization device (1), when self-ship performs a transmission, obtains timing differences (DTi) occurring over the past one minute from the transmission timing of self-ship (S102) and creates a histogram of the timing differences (DTi) (S103). The synchronization device (1) selects a class with the highest frequency from the classes of the timing differences (DTi) (S104) and obtains a corrected timing (DT') associated with the selected class (S105). The synchronization device (1) corrects a reference timing of the self-ship transmission using the corrected timing (DT') and performs the self-ship transmission (S106).

A lightweight radio/CD player for vehicular application is virtually "fastenerless" and includes a case and frontal interface formed of polymer based material that is molded to provide details to accept audio devices such as playback mechanisms (if desired) and radio receivers, as well as the circuit boards required for electrical control and display. The case and frontal interface are of composite structure, including an insert molded electrically conductive wire mesh screen that has been pre-formed to contour with the molding operation. The wire mesh provides EMC, RFI, BCI and ESD shielding and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. The PCB architecture is bifurcated into a first board carrying common circuit components in a surface mount configuration suitable for high volume production, and a second board carrying application specific circuit components in a wave soldered stick mount configuration. The major components and subassemblies are self-fixturing during the final assembly process, eliminating the need for dedicated tools, fixtures and assembly equipment. The major components and subassemblies self-interconnect by integral guide and connection features effecting "slide lock" and "snap lock" self-interconnection. The radio architecture includes improved push buttons employing 4-bar living hinge linkage and front loaded decorative trim buttons.

When the time information cannot be obtained from the communication signal inputted to the antenna having a certain type of gain characteristics, the control unit commands the gain characteristics change unit to interrupt the continuity and commands the receiving unit to obtain the time information from the communication signal inputted to the antenna whose gain characteristics have been changed.

Astronomische Schaltuhr (1) zum Ein- und Ausschalten von Verbrauchern in jeweils vorgegebener zeitlicher Relation zu einer ortsbezogenen Position mindestens eines ausgewählten Gestims, wie Sonne und/oder Mond, wobei aus von Satelliten empfangenen Zeit-, Satelliten- und Ortsinfomlationen eine geografische Empfängerposition und periodisch eine Uhrzeit ermittelt werden, womit in der Schaltuhr (1) eine mit einem internen Zeitgeber (13) gesteuerte Uhr synchronisiert und eine mittlere Ortszeit und die Position des ausgewählten Gestirns errechnet wird, wobei in der Schaltuhr (1) ein Empfänger enthalten ist, der mindestens einmal täglich Zeit- und Ortsinformationen von nur einem sich mit großer Bahnneigung in einem niedrigen Orbit bewegenden Satelliten aufnimmt und die Schaltuhr (1) aus diesen Informationen den Empfängerstandort mit einer Auflösung kleiner als 0,5 Grad Länge und Breite bestimmt und die Uhr so synchronisiert, dass sie eine Langzeittoleranz von höchstens +/- 0,5 s aufweist.
