In a preferred embodiment, the sound-insulating layer provides sound insulation of at least 10 dB, measured in accordance with the current Dutch and European standard.

The invention relates to a construction tile, the structure of which comprises different layers; the lower layer (2, 2', 2"') consists of a resistant base made from ceramic or another similar material, while the upper layer (1) comprises a sheet (2) which forms the visible surface. Said layers are joined by means of an adhesive which defines an intermediary homogeneous layer (3). Fragile zones do not form during said adhesion owing to the absence of air bubbles given that the contact face of the ceramic base (2,2',2") is concave in shape, the central point thereof being higher than the rest of the layer. In order to prevent the excess adhesive from overflowing and adhering to other adjacent tiles, the ceramic or similar base (2', 2") is provided with a peripheral rim (5, 5') which is subsequently removed during the edge forming stage when the tile is being shaped. The peripheral rim (5, 5') is preferably provided with several lateral projecting elements or stops (6) for centring the top sheet (1) in order to optimise the pressing thereof.

The invention relates to a sandwich panel (1), in particular for a piece of furniture, having a wood-based panel (2) which extends in a longitudinal direction (L), is made up of wood particles, provided with a binder and pressed together, and has an upper side (2a), running in the longitudinal direction (L), and an underside (2b), parallel to the upper side, wherein the spacing between the upper side (2a) and underside (2b) defines a panel thickness, and having a first cover layer (3) which extends in the longitudinal direction (L), is adhesively bonded to the upper side of the wood-based panel (2) and the thickness of which is smaller than the thickness of the wood-based panel (2). In order to create a sandwich panel which is optimized for furniture construction, the invention proposes that the wood-based panel (2) has at least one first portion (2.1), in which the density of the wood-based panel (2) is higher than in at least one second portion (2.2) of the wood-based panel (2), this second portion being adjacent to the first as seen in the longitudinal direction (L). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for producing a sandwich panel (1).
