The invention relates to a method for preparing sludge containing biomass, for example sewage sludge. According to the invention, a high-pressure reaction container (1) is filled with sludge and a gas or mixture of gases is introduced into said container (1). The pressure in the high-pressure reaction container (1) is maintained at such a high level that the gas or mixture of gases diffuses into the biomass. A sudden release of pressure in the high-pressure reaction container (1) causes the gas concentration in the aqueous phase to drop, producing an excess gas pressure in the biomass, which leads to the decomposition of the latter. For example, the cell membranes of cells contained in the biomass burst, releasing the cell contents, thus permitting a significantly improved dewatering of the sludge.

Die Rohreinläufe 3 enden nach unten senkrecht im Becken 1 und weisen im oberen Bereich jeweils eine Ausströmöffnung zur Abgabe von Flüssigkeit in das Abzugsrohr 2 auf. Während des Abzugsvorganges werden die Rohreinläufe 3 gleichmäßig durchströmt, so dass ein dauerhaft flächiger Flüssigkeitsabzug ohne Bereiche erhöhter Strömung gewährleistet ist. Dadurch wird ein Eintrag von Feststoffpartikeln in das Abzugsrohr 2 verhindert.

A process to recover energy, reduce polluction potential, and add value to organic waster such as animal manure is described. The process involves the anaerobic digestion of feedstocks, such as animal manure, at low to high temperatures in batch, semi-continous or continuous reactors. The process makes use of existing handling and storage equipment at the farm and requires minimal supervision and skill by the operator. The system is not affected by high concentrations of volatile acids and ammonia or nitrogen. The productivity of the anaerobic digester system, in terms of methane gas production and quality, is exceptionally high. The anaerobic digester employs plural pressurizable anaerobic digesters connected in parallel. Consequently, the process is scaleable, low cost and does not interfere with regular farm operations.

A polluted water purification apparatus which pumps up water in a polluted water region, allows gas such as oxygen to dissolve in the water under pressure and discharges the water into the polluted water region again. The apparatus comprises a pump (2) which pumps up the polluted water in the polluted water region, a pressure tank (T) in which the polluted water pumped up by the pump (2) is stored, a gas supplying means (9, 10) which supplied gas such as oxygen to the pressure tank (T), a water level control means (5, 6) which controls the water level in the pressure tank (T), a polluted water discharging means (4) which discharges polluted water pumped up onto the water level of the pressure tank (T) and a discharging means (13) which discharges the water in the pressure tank (T) into the polluted water region. The water is improved in the DO value in the purification apparatus and made to flow through a rapid filter or an active carbon filter to form aerobic organisms layers in a filtering sand layer or an active carbon layer. Since many aerobic and facultative anaerobic denitriding bacteria are contained in the aerobic organism layer, BOD removal and nitrification and denitrification of nitride components can be efficiently progressed while the water is made to flow through the filtering sand and the active carbon filter.
