The false twist yarns can create woven/knitted fabrics having a novel texture not found in those using conventional drawn yarns or false twist yarns. In a drawing false twist process provided with a heater, a false twister, and a twist setter provided between the heater and the false twister, non-drawn yarns supplied to this process are heated by the heater with a twisting action to be applied thereto by the false twister controlled by the twist setter, are allowed to pass the twist setter after heated, and then are false-twisted by the false twister with the twist setter as a twisting starting point, thereby producing false twist yarns.

The band is formed of flat strips of tape having fibers embedded in a resin matrix which are twisted and then pultrated to provide a rectangular cross sectional configuration. The twisted tape is wrapped about a mandrel and forms either the only layer, or the intermediate layer of a composite band in combination with inner and outer layers of flat tape or wound filament fibers, whereby the fibers in the tape extend across the central axis of the band to reduce interlaminar sheer. In another embodiment, a plurality of dimples or depressions are formed in the individual tape layers to extend a plurality of the fibers across the layer boundaries to reduce interlaminar sheer.

Ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von textilen Flächengebilden aus Fäden, die aus Naturfasern und/oder Zellulose- und/oder Proteinfasern gefertigt sind, kennzeichnet sich dadurch, daß nicht-elastische Fäden miteinander verstrickt, verwirkt oder verwebt werden, von denen ein Faden einer S-Drehung und der andere Faden einer Z-Drehung unterworfen wurde und diese miteinander in jeweils gegenläufiger Richtung verarbeitet werden, wobei der S-gedrehte Faden eine Drehung aufweist, die 10% größer ist, als die Drehung des Z-gedrehten Fadens und darauf geachtet wird, daß beim Stricken und Wirken die S- bzw. Z-gedrehten Fäden in einer Maschengröße verarbeitet werden und bei gewebten textilen Flächenstücken die S- bzw. Z-gedrehten Fäden in ihrer Anordnung als Kette bzw. Schuß jeweils zwischen sich einen solchen Abstand einhalten, daß die S- bzw. Z-gedrehten Fäden sich zwischen ihren Berührungspunkten ausreichend längenmäßig verändern können, und das so hergestellte textile Flächengebilde einen Schrumpf- und Fixierungsprozeß unterworfen wird.
