The operation of an inverter is controlled so that the motor drive voltage is higher than the output voltage of each of the first and second batteries. The vehicle drive system is configured so that electric power can be supplied, from each of the first and second batteries, to an electric apparatus mounted in a vehicle other than the inverter.
