A continuous production process for a cross-linked polymer is disclosed. The process comprises the following steps: continuously mixing an uncross-linked polymer, which has been fed in a liquid form through a feed line (line A), and a cross-linking agent, which has been fed in a liquid form through another feed line (line B), together at a mixing junction (M) such that the uncross-linked polymer is allowed to continuously undergo a cross-linking reaction; and continuously discharging and collecting the resulting cross-linking reaction product as the cross-linked polymer through a discharge line (line C). Also disclosed is a production apparatus having such feed lines, mixing junction and discharge line. According to these production process and apparatus, cross-linked polymers each of which can achieve high water absorption can be continuously produced with high productivity.

There is provided a new bubble floating type separator (20) applicable to a waste water regeneration system which can purify a relatively small amount of waste water by a simple and small-scaled apparatus. The bubble floating type separator (20) comprises a liquid passage (1) for delivering a liquid which contains suspended solids, and an injection pipe (2), connected to said liquid passage (1), for injecting a gas selected from air, oxygen gas and ozone gas. A gas-liquid mixer (10) is connected to the liquid passage (1) at a downstream portion of the injection pipe (2), and a cyclone type bubble separator (20) is connected to a downstream portion of an outlet of the gas-liquid mixer (10). The cyclone type bubble separator (20) has a discharge port (22), at a central upper portion, for discharging bubbles floating along with the suspended solids, a cyclone body (21), and a liquid discharge port (23) at a lower circumferential portion of the cyclone body (21) for discharging a processed liquid so that the suspended solids are removed together with the bubbles.

The nozzle tip (15) is formed with a deflector flange (80) downstream of the discharge orifice (78) in transverse relation to the direction of travel of the preatomized liquid passing through the discharge orifice (78) and the deflector flange (80) is formed with a cup shaped recess (85) in axial alignment with the discharge orifice (78) into which the preatomized liquid is directed from the discharge orifice (78) for causing further breakdown and atomization of the liquid which is thereupon directed by the deflector flange (80) transversely in a substantially flat spray pattern. Alternative embodiments of spray tips with cup shaped deflectors are disclosed. The impingement member (55) preferably is removably mounted within the nozzle body (11) so as to enable the nozzle to be used in an air assisted mode of operation, or alternatively, in purely hydraulic mode of operation.
