Zusätzlich hat die Filterpresse einen Suspensionseinlass, welcher vorzugsweise zentrisch und mittig angeordnet ist und einen oder mehrere Filtratauslässe. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Auslegung der Filterpresse wird wenigstens mittels eines berührungslos arbeitenden Sensors die Presswandbelastung, wie die Dehnung, die Verformung bzw. Längenänderung erfasst, und ein solcher Sensor ist wenigstens einem Filterelement zugeordnet. Mittels einer Auswerteeinrichtung werden die Sensorsignale aufgewertet und ggfs. über eine Regelungseinrichtung an eine Überwachungseinrichtung weitergeleitet. Wenn der oder die Sensoren kontinuierlich arbeiten, lassen sich Prozessparameter der Filterpresse verändern, wobei es sich insbesondere um die Beschickungsmenge, die Stoffdichte, die Einlaufdruck und die Filterkuchenbildung handeln kann.
