The invention relates to a method of manufacturing edge-sealed packaging container blanks (1). The manufacturing process starts from a continuous material web (2) with an outside layer (5) and an inside (6), the inside layer (6) extending outside the one edge (13) of the web (2) and forming a fixed strip (10). The strip (10) is folded around the edge (13) of the material web (2) and is sealed to the outside layer (5). Thereafter, the web (2) is cut into sheets (12). The sheets (12) are transported further through the manufacturing process with a certain interspace (18) between the sheets (12). The sheets (12) are laminated to two plastic foil webs (20, 22), an outer (22) and an inner (20). The plastic foil webs (20, 22) are laminated so that they each extend outside one edge (13, 15) and form two strips (34, 35). The strips (34, 35) are each thereafter folded around an edge (13, 15) and sealed. The sheets (12) are once again severed from one another centrally in the interspace (18) and the sheets are turned through 90° in relation to the direction of the web. The strips (27, 28) formed in the interspace (18) are folded towards the inside of the sheet (12) and sealed to the inside layer (20). The remaining edges (14, 16) of the sheet (12) have thereby been edge-sealed. The sheet (12) is once again turned through 90° in relation to the direction of the web, is folded together and longitudinally joint sealed to form a packaging container blank (1).

The strips are welded at predetermined welding zones and give rise to cells (4) each having at least one opening (5). A forming fluid is injected into the opening to expand the cell internally of the forming cavity. An easily openable sealed package bag (P) is disclosed which hermetically seals a material to be packed (W), such as liquid, powder and viscous material, by longitudinally and laterally sealing three or four sides of a package film (F). A seal opening notch (N) comprising a cut is formed in a sealed portion (S) of the package bag (P) in such a way as to extend in a direction of depth of the sealed portion (S). The sealed portion (S) is also formed with a bent portion (B) adjacent to the seal opening notch (N). The easily openable sealed package bag is capable of enhancing the ease with which the package bag can be opened and the ease with which a seal opening portion can be identified by sight or by touch, without producing cut chips of the package bag. An apparatus for manufacturing such easily openable sealed package bags is also provided.
