There is disclosed a method of producing a pre-mixed porous polymeric composition comprising the steps of: encapsulating granules of rubber to isolate any contained curing agent or water; mixing a moisture curing quasi-prepolymer or prepolymer with the encapsulated granules, in a low moisture or moisture free environment; depositing the mixture, in a low moisture or moisture free environment, into containers which are impermeable to water vapour or which have a low water transmission rate; storing the mixture containing containers for later use; and when required, and without further mixing, applying the composition to a suitable sub-base and allowing the composition to polymerise by reaction with water.

Disclosed is a vulcanized molded product having a surface decorative layer, comprising a vulcanized product of an unsaturated olefin copolymer (A) and a decorative layer provided on a surface of the vulcanized product, or comprising a vulcanized product of an olefin elastomer composition and a decorative layer provided on a surface of the vulcanized product, said olefin elastomer composition comprising an unsaturated olefin copolymer (A) and an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer rubber (E). The unsaturated olefin copolymer (A) is obtained from (i) ethylene, (ii) an aromatic vinyl compound, (iii) a non-conjugated polyene, and optionally, (iv) an α-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms. Since the vulcanized molded product having a surface layer has excellent adhesion properties between the molded product and the surface decorative layer and shows excellent mechanical strength, it can be widely used for automotive industrial parts and building materials. Also disclosed is a coated molded product of a thermoplastic resin composition, comprising a molded product of a thermoplastic resin composition and a coating film formed on the molded product, said thermoplastic resin composition comprising an ethylene/aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer and another thermoplastic resin. Further disclosed is a coated molded product of an elastomer composition, comprising a molded product of an elastomer composition and a coating film formed on the molded product, said elastomer composition comprising an ethylene/aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer and an elastomer. Since the coated molded products have excellent adhesion properties between the molded product and the coating film, they can be widely used for industrial materials and medical appliances which need to have coating films.

A method for identifying and protecting activated surface portions of a plastic substrate is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a plastic substrate having one or more activated surface portions and applying a solution containing a water-soluble, organic film-forming substance onto the substrate. The solution coats only the activated portions of the substrate surface. The method further includes the steps of drying the solution to form a temporary protective film on the activated portions of the surface, thereby rendering the activated portions less susceptible to abrasion or disruption during handling.

1. ein aromatisches Di- oder Polyisocyanat mit einer zur vollständigen Abreaktion aller NCO-Gruppen ungenügenden Menge eines Di-und/oder Polyols des Molekulargewichtes 1000 bis 20 000 vermischt und unter Bildung eines Isocyanat-Voradduktes mit dem Isocyanatgehalt von 5 bis 32 % zur Reaktion gebracht wird, 2. daß dann dieses Isocyanat-Voraddukt mit Mahlgut/Füllstoff vermischt wird, und daß 3. die erhaltene Mischung in einem weiteren Schritt mit einer weiteren Menge eines Di-und/oder Polyols mit einem Molekulargewicht von 62 bis 2000 (Vernetzer) und gegebenenfalls Wasser und/oder organischem Treibmittel unter Verwendung eines statischen Mischorganes in eine Form eingetragen oder kontinuierlich zu Gußprofilen verarbeitet wird.

A protective and decorative sheet material (10) for covering substrates comprises a flexible carrier film (11), a paint layer (13) adhered to one surface of the carrier film containing light reflective flakes; a transparent polymeric topcoat (14) overlying and adhered to the paint layer having a thickness of at least about 0.1 millimeter. The sheet material has a substantially unstressed relaxed state and a relaxed area and is heat softenable to a substantially plastic state in which it is extendable to an extended state having and extended area up to at least 50 % greater than the relaxed area. The paint and topcoat layers have substantially uniform quality and appearance in both the relaxed and extended states. The thick transparent topcoat provides improved retention of gloss and distinctness of image when the sheet material is stretched. A method of preparing the sheet material comprises the step of extruding in laminar flow a layer of a crosslinkable transparent topcoat composition over the paint layer.

A process for producing a polyester film having a thin cured polyurethane coating, which comprises
(1) appplying an aqueous composition comprising a thermosetting polyurethane prepolymer as a film-forming component to at least one surface of an unoriented aromatic polyester film to form a thin wet coating on it, said polyurethane prepolymer being characterized by (i) having a polyol component at least 10 % by weight of which is composed of a polyol containing a carbon-carbon double bond selected from unsaturated polyester polyols and polybutadiene polyols, the carbon-carbon double bond being cleavable under ultraviolet light, (ii) having a pendant anionic hydrophilic group in the polymer chain, and (iii) having isocyanate groups blocked with an oxime at the ends of the polymer chain, and (2) thereafter stretching and heat-setting the coated film, during which time the wet coating of the aqueous composition is dried and the polyurethane prepolymer is cured to form a thin cured polyurethane coating having a carbon-carbon double bond on the biaxially oriented polyester film.
