The temperature of the semiconductor device is adjusted by a temperature adjusting system (21) comprising a heater (22) for heating the semiconductor device, a temperature detector (thermistor) (17) for detecting the temperature of the semiconductor device and feeding out a temperature detection signal (S), and a control circuit for controlling actuation of the heater in accordance with the temperature detection signal in order to set the temperature of the semiconductor device at a predetermined target value that is lower than the highest temperature assumed to occur under an environment, in which the semiconductor device is located.

The core (110) enhances pump energy absorption by interacting with pump energy at a desired wavelength and the cladding confines the pump energy at wavelength so that the pump energy can propagate along the fiber and can interact with core (110).
