In other embodiment an actuator arrangement including a lever movable between a first and a second position, a master cylinder having a piston, the lever moving towards the second position drives the piston from its initial position thereby increasing pressure in the master cylinder, and by releasing the lever the pressure within the master cylinder is arranged to return the piston towards its initial position, the piston being returned fully to the initial position upon movement of the lever to the first position.

    摘要: A handle (35) mounted generally horizontally on a fork lift truck for controlling forward and reverse speed of movement of the truck and raising and lowering forks is carried by a control device (100). The control device includes a shaft (150) with a centrally positioned spherical section (160) contained in a socket (172, 176) in a support member (170). The shaft is therefore free to rotate about the center (177) of the sphere. A ramp cam (200) is mounted on the support member surrounding the shaft. A slider (180) mounted on the shaft is pressed against the cam by action of a spring (190). This arrangement assures that the shaft and control handle remain centered until acted upon by an operator of the truck. Two linear potentiometers (270, 290) provide electrical output signals representing the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) positions of the end of the shaft opposite the control handle. The cam is provided with four distinct compound surfaces (201-204). For vertical movement of the handle, the slopes of the two lower surfaces (202, 203) are greater than the slopes of the two upper surfaces (201, 204). The slopes of each surface are also different in the forward and reverse direction. This arrangement provides the illusion that the same force is required to move the handle in any direction. A detent (215) in the center of the cam requires a slightly greater force to move the handle from the center position.

    摘要: An actuator (70) is used in a surgical simulation system that provides haptic feedback to a user of a catheter or similar elongated object (10',12',14') coupled to the system. The actuator (70) includes sensors that generate sense signals (56) indicative of axial translation and rotation of the object (10',12',14') by the user. The sense signals (56) are provided to a workstation (60) executing a simulation program. In response to the sense signals, the workstation calculates axial forces and torques to be applied to the object (10',12',14') as haptic feedback to the user and generates drive signals (52) representing the calculated axial forces and torques. Mechanisms within the actuator respond to the drive signals (52) by applying corresponding axial force and torque to a rigid tube (76,78,80) that is mechanically coupled to the object (10',12',14'). One embodiment of the actuator includes a carriage assembly (94) for holding the rigid tube (76,78,80) between a pair of opposed pinch wheels (122,140). The carriage assembly (94) rotates to rotate the object (10',12',14') about its longitudinal axis, and the pinch wheels rotate to translate the object axially.

    摘要: Control consoles are normally utilized to provide ready access to the operator of the controls necessary to perform the various operating functions of the vehicle. Since vehicles, such as construction vehicles, are traversing rough terrain, it is advantageous to stabilize movement of the hand of the operator relative to the controls of the vehicle. In this subject arrangement a control console assembly is provided and has a handrest located thereon. The handrest is adapted to receive the hand of the operator such that the heel of the operator's hand remains in intimate contact with a raised portion of the handrest. A pair of levers are mounted on the control console assembly adjacent the handrest and operatively actuated by the fingertips of the operator's hand. A rotary knob is oriented on the side of the handrest and operative to be rotated by the thumb of the operator's hand. The various controls for the operating function of the earthworking vehicle is controlled by the fingers of the operator without having to move the heel of his hand from the raised portion of the handrest. This allows the operator to have a more finite and smooth control of the various operating functions of the vehicle even though the his body is being jostled around due to the earthworking vehicle traversing rough terrain.

    摘要: A hand control having particular application as an aircraft throttle box; the control requiring merely small movements of the wrist and hand, thereby being especially effective when used under high 'g' conditions. The control includes a support (3) for the forearm and a handle (4) capable of linear and angular movement for control of an engine from "idle" through "reheat" to "combat" mode. The handle (4) is provided with finger-operated controls (8) for controlling trim or weapons, for example, and a miniature joystick for driving an X-Y controller on a cockpit display.
