This invention enables efficient and safe preparation of various 3,5-bisalkylphenols including 3,5-diisopropylphenol (which is important as an intermediate in the synthesis of drugs and agricultural chemicals) in shorter steps at high purity in high yield, thus contributing to stable supply of the drugs and agricultural chemicals.
