Abstract: Disclosed are bifunctional composite catalysts which have a basic mixed oxide support derived from layer double hydroxides and methods for conversion of β-hydroxy carbonyl species and preparation of amino alcohol precursor using the same. By the bifunctional catalyst, the abundant basic sites on hydrotalcite oxide (HTO) allow retro-aldol reaction to outpace direct hydrogenation, thus achieving an exceptional selectivity towards a desired product produced through retro-aldol reaction and then hydrogenation by, for example, nickel nanoparticles on the support. Accordingly, this method exhibits particular utility in the renewable production of N-acetylethanolamine from biomass-derived N-acetyl glucosamine (GlcNAc) without using homogeneous base as a co-catalyst.

Abstract: A process is provided for preparation of (R)-N-Boc biphenyl alaninol.It provides a preparation process for a compound outlined as compound 4, which includes these operations: in one of the alcohol solvents, asymmetric hydrogenation of 5 in the presence of [Rh(Duanphos)(X)]Y and hydrogen to provide compound 4. Here "Duanphos" is (Rc,Sp)-Duanphos or (Sc,Rp)-Duanphos; X is NBD or/and COD; Y is one or more of BF4, PF6, SbF6. This process has a lot of advantages, such as low cost, safe operation, less pollution and high yield. The product was obtained in >99% purity and ee which is suitable to scale up in industrial scale.

Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to ligands for transition metals. A second aspect of the present invention relates to the use of catalysts comprising these ligands in various transition-metal-catalyzed carbon-heteroatom and carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions. The subject methods provide improvements in many features of the transition-metal-catalyzed reactions, including the range of suitable substrates, number of catalyst turnovers, reaction conditions, and efficiency. For example, improvements have been realized in transition metal-catalyzed: aryl amination reactions; aryl amidation reactions; Suzuki couplings; and Sonogashira couplings. In certain embodiments, the invention relates to catalysts and methods of using them that operate in aqueous solvent systems.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an ±-aminoamide derivative compound and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same. According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, provided is a therapeutic agent which can overcome the disadvantages of existing drugs used as a MAO-B inhibitor and, specifically, reversibly inhibits MAO-B through a non-covalent bond so as to alleviate or eliminate the side effects of the existing drugs which exhibit a therapeutic effect by irreversibly acting via a covalent bond with MAO-B. Particularly, a new compound having superior stability and efficacy compared to the existing reversible MAO-B inhibitors may be provided.
