摘要: In a device on a carding machine for cotton, synthetic fibres or the like, in which a rotatably mounted stripping roller (6) is arranged between a doffer and nip rollers, said stripping roller (6) stripping fibre material from the doffer and delivering same to the nip rollers, the stripping roller has a roller body to which clothing teeth are assigned in the region of the lateral surface thereof. In order, in a structurally simple manner, to avoid trapping of fibre material and allow greater production, the clothing teeth of the clothing (6a) are formed directly on the lateral surface of the roller body, wherein the roller body and the clothing teeth of the clothing (6a) are formed in one piece.

摘要: Placement of a stent having a tethered ferromagnetic bead may be facilitated with a modified pusher having an opening at the distal end of the pusher to receive the tethered ferromagnetic bead. The ferromagnetic bead may be positioned within the bladder whereby a tether connection to a shortened stent ending within the ureter may be used to reduce the likelihood of patient irritation. The bead, tether, and stent assembly may be advanced into the patient as a unit along a conventional guide wire and using a conventional cystoscope.

摘要: A method of preparing an oat protein and fiber product. A base formulation is mixed water to form a slurry. The base formulation has a major amount of an oat material or waxy barley hybrid. At least one enzyme is mixed into the slurry. The at least one enzyme capable of facilitating sugar formation and thinning of the slurry. The slurry is cooked to convert the slurry into a first intermediate product having a DE of between about 20 and 90. The first intermediate product is diluted with water to form a second intermediate product. The second intermediate product is heated. A first solids slurry is recovered from the second intermediate product using a clarifying centrifuge. The first solids slurry is dried to form a dried product.

摘要: A method and system for reversibly converting water between an initial ionic strength and an increased ionic strength, using a switchable additive, is described. The disclosed method and system can be used, for example, in distillation-free removal of water from solvents, solutes, or solutions. Following extraction of a solute from a medium by dissolving it in water, the solute can then be isolated from the aqueous solution or "salted-out" by converting the water to a solution having an increased ionic strength. The solute then separates from the increased ionic strength solution as a separate phase. Once the solute is, for example, decanted off, the increased ionic strength aqueous solution can be converted back to water having its original ionic strength and reused. Switching from lower to higher ionic strength is readily achieved using low energy methods such as bubbling with CO2, CS2 or COS. Switching from higher to lower ionic strength is readily achieved using low energy methods such as bubbling with air, heating, agitating, introducing a vacuum or partial vacuum, or any combination or thereof.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of treatment and/or prophylaxis of a microbial infection, comprising the step of administering an effective amount of a compound of formula (I), in which X and Y are either the same or different and selected from a heteroatom; is a double or single bond depending on the heteroatoms X and Y; R 1 to R 5 are either the same or different and selected from hydrogen or a non-deleterious substituent; and R 6 and R 7 are either the same or different and selected from hydrogen and a non-deleterious substituent or one of R 6 and R 7 are absent when there is a double bond present, pharmaceutically acceptable salts or derivatives, pro-drugs, tautomers and/or isomers thereof. The present invention also relates to a method for protecting a subject from radiation damage, a method of cancer radiotherapy and use as an antimicrobial or radioprotective agent of the compound of formula (I) defined above. Some of the compounds of formula (I) are novel and are also described in the present invention, together with pharmaceutical or veterinary compositions containing them.
