Abstract:
Compounds are disclosed that are useful for treating ophthalmic conditions caused by or related to production of toxic visual cycle products that accumulate in the eye, such as dry adult macular degeneration, as well as conditions caused by or related to the misfolding of mutant opsin proteins and/or the mis-localization of opsin proteins. Compositions of these compounds alone or in combination with other therapeutic agents are also described, along with therapeutic methods of using such compounds and/or compositions. Methods of synthesizing such agents are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A direct trifluoromethylation method preferably using a trifluoromethane as a fluoro-methylating species. In particular, the present method is used for preparing a trifluoromethylated substrate by reacting a fluoromethylatable substrate with a trifiuoromethylating agent in the presence of an alkoxide or metal salt of silazane under conditions sufficient to trifluoromethylate the substrate; wherein the fluoromethylatable substrate includes chlorosilanes, carbonyl compounds such as esters, aryl halides, aldehydes, ketones, chalcones, alkyl formates, alkyl halides, aryl halides, alkyl borates, carbon dioxide or sulfur.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a compound of formula (I): wherein: X is methyl or chlorine; R1 is fluorine or bromine; R2 is ethynyl, C1-C3alkoxy, C1-C3haloalkoxy, or C1-C3alkoxy-C1-C3alkoxy-; and Q is a pyran-3,5-dione-4-yl, a thiopyran-3,5-dione-4-yl, a piperidine-3,5-dione-4-yl, a cyclopentane-1,3-dione-2-yl, a cyclohexane-1,3, 5-trione-2-yl, a cyclohexane-1,3-dione-2-yl, or a cycloheptane-1,3-dione-2-yl, or a derivative thereof (e.g. a fused such as fused bicyclic derivative, and/or a spirocyclic derivative), or an enol ketone tautomer derivative thereof, wherein Q is further defined herein; and wherein the compound of formula (I) is optionally present as an agrochemically acceptable salt thereof. Preferably, X is methyl; and/or R1 is fluorine; and/or R2 is —O—R2A, wherein R2A is methyl, ethyl, trifluoromethyl, difluoromethyl, trifluoroethyl, or —CH2CH2OCH3. These compounds are suitable for use as herbicides. The invention therefore also relates to a method of controlling weeds, especially grassy monocotyledonous weeds, in crops of useful plants, comprising applying a compound of formula (I), or a herbicidal composition comprising such a compound, to the weeds and/or to the plants and/or to the locus thereof.
Abstract:
The invention generally relates to compounds that function as TP antagonists for treating thrombosis and other cardiovascular, renal, or pulmonary diseases. In some embodiments, the invention provides a compound including a substituted nitro phenoxy phenyl, a sulfonylurea, and an alkyl group. In some embodiments, the invention provides a method of treating thrombosis by administering an antithrombotic compound that preferentially binds to a thromboxane receptor, has preferential binding for either TPalpha (TPα) or TPbeta (TP&bgr;) receptor subtype.
Abstract:
Provided herein are (phenylene)dialkanamines, and methods of producing such (phenylene)dialkanamines from various furanyl and benzyl compounds. Such furanyl compounds may include, for example, bis(nitroalkyl)furans, bis(aminoalkyl)furans, and nitroalkyl(furan)acetonitriles. Such compounds may include, for example, bis(nitroalkyl)benzenes. Provided herein are also alkyldiamines, and methods for producing such alkyldiamines from furanyl compounds.
Abstract:
Provided is an organozinc composition comprising (a) an organozinc complex carrying an allylic ligand, (b) a magnesium component and (c) a lithium component. The organozinc composition is useful as a synthetic intermediate with excellent reactivity and selectivity, and can be stored for extended periods of time without loss of activity. Moreover, a process for the preparation of the organozinc composition and synthetic procedures making use of the organozinc composition are provided.
