An apparatus for providing sound in vehicles (10) which comprises a receiving means for radio-frequency waves with frequency selection and an antenna (11) connected to said receiving means. The apparatus comprises moreover an operating means located in the vehicle close to the driver's seat including a power amplifier (15) with controls for sound adjustment, and loudspeakers (15) connected to said power amplifier. Said radio receiving means is divided into a master unit (14) close to the driver's seat in the vehicle, and a slave unit (12) which is located together with the antenna (11) remotely from said master unit (14). Said slave unit (12) comprises a circuit (16) controlled from said master unit for selecting a desired transmitter frequency and a circuit (19) for converting the selected signal into a signal of intermediate frequency with mainly a constant frequency. Said master unit comprises a detector, a pre-amplifier and said power amplifier along with controls for adjusting the receiver.

A method for engine retardation with a multi-cylinder combustion engine, which for each cylinder with matching piston has an exhaust valve for control of the connection between a combustion chamber (4) in the cylinder and an exhaust system. Opening of the exhaust valve for engine retardation is achieved by regulation of a clearance in the engine valve mechanism and thereby engaging one or more extra cam ridges (38) on the engine camshaft (10), which continuously activates the valve mechanism in dependence of the momentary position of the engine crankshaft, using an actively adjustable, hydraulically operated clearance regulating device (16). For active control of the engine retardation said device is adjusted between different positions by means of a hydraulic fluid pressure lower than a maximum value controlled by a pressure relief valve (25). The angular position of the camshaft, at which the exhaust valves are being opened by said extra cam ridge or ridges is depending on the momentary clearance in the valve mechanism. The clearance is gradually brought to zero or close to zero while the pressure in the corresponding clearance regulating device (16) is limited to a certain predetermined value. Independently of when in time during the cylinder work cycle the engine retardation is initiated or terminated, the risk of an opening against a, from a stress aspect, too high cylinder pressure is hereby eliminated.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et un dispositif destinés au démarrage à froid de moteurs à combustion du type à piston. Au cours d'une première étape, l'alimentation des chambres de combustion du moteur en carburant est bloqué au cours du lancement du moteur, de sorte que l'air est comprimé dans le moteur afin de chauffer les chambres de combustion du moteur par la chaleur de compression générée. Au cours d'une seconde étape, l'alimentation en carburant est effectuée au cours d'un lancement additionnel jusqu'à ce que l'allumage ait lieu, la première étape étant prolongée pendant un nombre prédéterminé de révolutions de lancement du moteur.

In connection with startup of the engine the startup catalyst and/or the air pump are activated by means of the control unit. The invention provides improved purification of the exhaust gases emitted by the engine.
