Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur selektiven Oxidation von Alkoholen zu Ketonen oder Aldehyden mit einem Alkalihypohalogenit unter alkalischen Bedingungen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Oxidation in Gegenwart eines im Reaktionsmedium unlöslichen heterogenen Oxidationskatalysators, ausgewählt aus der Gruppe enthaltend die Verbindungen der Formel (I), (II), (III)
worin n eine Zahl von 3-3000 ist; oder ein an ein Merrifield-Polymer 4-oxy gebundenes 4-Oxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl, durchführt. The contrast agent may be used for imaging a corporeal situs by radiological techniques, comprising delivery to the corporeal situs of an imagingly effectively amount of a physiologically acceptable composition comprising the boron reagent. A variety of illustrative boron reagents is described, including vectorised boron derivatives, e.g., boron derivatives encapsulated within liposomes, fixed on or bonded to macromolecules or polymers, etc. The contrast agents, formulations, and method of the present invention may be employed for a wide variety of radiological imaging applications, e.g., excretory urography, angiocardiography, aortography, etc.

This invention relates to a new class of novel inorganic-organic hybrid polymers that are formed from linear inorganic-organic hybrid polymers of varying molecular weight. These new high temperature oxidatively stable thermosetting polymers are formed from linear polymeric materials having repeat units that contain at least one alkynyl group for cross-linking purposes and at least one bis(silyl or siloxanyl)carboranyl group. These novel organoboron thermoset polymers contain an unsaturated cross-linked hydrocarbon moiety. These inorganic-organic hybrid polymers can be further converted into ceramics at elevated temperatures to prepare engine parts, turbine blades and matrices.
