摘要: A drivetrain for a hybrid vehicle has at least one ground engaging element, a torque transmission shaft operatively connected thereto, an electric motor, a transmission having an input shaft and an output shaft, and an internal combustion engine operatively connected to the input shaft of the transmission. The electric motor and the output shaft are operatively connected to the torque transmission shaft. The transmission has a neutral shift position, a first shift position, and at least one higher shift position including a highest shift position. The transmission is capable of shifting directly from the neutral shift position to the first shift position and directly from the neutral shift position to the highest shift position. A vehicle having the drivetrain is also disclosed. A method of starting an internal combustion engine in a hybrid vehicle is also disclosed.

摘要: A fracture-separated engine component and a method for manufacturing same is described. Prior to fracture separation, the engine component is case-hardened by nitriding and has a nitriding hardness depth of 0.4 to 0.7 mm. After the nitriding, the engine component is cooled such that each one of the subsequent fracture surfaces (6) reaches a temperature below -100°C. The fracture separation is then performed. After fracture separation, the engine component has two fracture surfaces along a fracture plane, the fracture surfaces having hardened peripheral areas and unhardened core sections. No point of the unhardened core sections located in the fracture plane is located at a distance of more than 1.1 mm from the nearest hardened peripheral area. Each one of the fracture surfaces has a cross sectional face comprising elongated partial fracture surfaces with a width of less than 3.2 mm.

摘要: A family of manifolds for a family of engines. A first and second engine respectively have a first and second number of cylinders. The second number is at least one and smaller than the first number. Each manifold has a plenum chamber and an inlet. The first and second manifolds respectively have the first and second number of outlets, each connected to one of a first number of runner passages. The first manifold is manufactured by inserting an outlet insert for forming at least one of the first number of outlets into a first or second mold, forming a first portion thereof using the first mold, forming a second portion thereof using the second mold, and connecting the portions. The second manifold is manufactured by forming a first portion thereof using the first mold, forming a second portion thereof using the second mold, and connecting the portions. The second intake manifold being configured for the second engine and comprising a second number of outlets being fluidly connected to a corresponding one of the first number of intake runner passages and being configured for fluid connection to a corresponding one of the second number of cylinders, at least one of the first number of intake runner passages of the second intake manifold not being fluidly connected to any one of the second number of outlets of the second intake manifold.
