    摘要: An improved fiber optic connector of the type in which a fiber supporting ferrule (15) is slidably and resiliently biased independently of the surrounding load-bearing parts of the connector so that forces applied to the fiber optic cable jacket are not transmitted to the ferrule (15) and supported fiber to interrupt communications then in progress. In one of the embodiments, the needle of a syringe is inserted into a positioning tube (16) which confines an adhesive to the needed area, and prevents wicking of the adhesive to surrounding areas where it might interfere with the sliding action of the ferrule (15). It also wipes the needle as the syringe is withdrawn. A rear body element (13) provided with internal threads (50) which surround the cable jacket, which during a crimping operation, causes the jacket to deform into the threads for superior cable retention. Alternate embodiments include a rear body having means for engaging a sheath of a fiber optic cable, key means, and crimping operations with collet-like fingers.

    摘要: A gas tube fail safe device for elongated three element gas tubes having a centrally disposed electrode and a pair of end electrodes. The device includes an elongated planar body (21) having bent up end edges (26-27) forming end electrical contact terminal insulation sleeves (30-31) forming fusible elements. Centrally disposed tabs (33-34) resiliently engage a pin carried by the center electrode of the gas tube. In a second embodiment, a pair of shorting plates (50-51) overlie an air gap insulative member (60) having lines of small orifices (66) which provide air gaps through which excess voltage surges may arc to provide a backup function equivalent to that of the gas tube.

    摘要: A coaxial surge protector includes a housing (17) in which is situated a transmission line (10) in the form of a two-sided printed circuit board (20). The surge protector includes input (12) and output (14) signal connectors mounted on a housing and connected to the transmission line (10), and a gas discharge tube (16) electrically coupled between the transmission line (10) and circuit ground. A thermally activated shunt assembly (18) is thermally coupled to the gas discharge tube (16) and senses when the gas discharge tube (16) is in an overheating condition. Upon such condition, the shunt assembly provides an electrically conductive shunt in parallel with the gas discharge tube (16) to divert current flowing through the gas discharge tube (16) to flow through the shunt assembly (18) to ground in order to minimize further overheating of the gas discharge tube (16).
