Abstract:
A method of forming a coating on a food or beverage container, which includes spraying a coating composition onto an interior surface of the food or beverage container, where the coating composition includes an emulsion-polymerized latex copolymer having copolymer chains of one or more mono-unsaturated monomers that are cross-linked with one or more multi-unsaturated monomers. The method also includes heating the sprayed coating composition to cure the coating composition, thereby providing the coating on the interior surface of the food or beverage container.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining coating requirements with one or more computer-based systems, which includes receiving image files of a structure (e.g., a building), identifying one or more surfaces of the structure to be coated based on the received image files, determining a surface area for each of one or more surfaces to be coated, receiving coating application information, calculating a coating amount for each of the one or more surfaces to be coated based on the calculated surface area and the received coating application information, and optionally, communicating the calculated coating amounts.
Abstract:
An electrocoating composition and a coating formed from the composition are described herein. The electrocoating composition includes at least an epoxy resin component, an isocyanate-functional component and a silica-based additive. The coating shows about 40 to 70% reduction in edge corrosion relative to a conventional coating.
Abstract:
A coated article is described, including a substrate with a coating composition applied thereon to provide a coated article with a textured surface. In one aspect, the coated article is a steel rebar used to reinforce concrete. The textured surface provides optimal surface roughness and demonstrates superior pullout strength relative to an uncoated standard.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions for coating metal substrates with powder coatings are provided. The methods and systems include application of TGIC-reactive carboxyl-functional polyester resins with high acid number and low melt viscosity, used in powder coatings formulated at high pigment loadings, and optionally including a pigment dispersant in the premix prior to extrusion.
Abstract:
A method of painting a five-sided container, which includes applying a water-based paint to the interior surfaces and the exterior surfaces of the container, and forcing heated air into the open side of the container to at least partially dry the paint on the interior surfaces and the exterior surfaces of the container.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a coating composition having excellent adhesion to metal substrates. The coating composition includes a binder comprising a polyester resin having an adhesion promoting group and an optional crosslinker. The present invention also provides articles having the coating composition applied to at least a portion of a surface thereof.
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed to a self-crosslinkable polymer and and an aqueous dispersion comprising particles of the polymer. The self-crosslinkable polymer has a molecular skeleton containing urethane linkages, and a hydrazide functional group and a carbonyl functional group capable of reacting with the hydrazide functional group chemically bonded to the molecular skeleton.
Abstract:
A polymer is provided that preferably includes at least one unsaturated cycloaliphatic group. In one embodiment, the polymer is combined with an optional crosslinker and an optional carrier to form a coating composition suitable for use in coating articles such as packaging articles. In one embodiment, the polymer has at least one unsaturated cycloaliphatic group that is at least bicyclic.
