Abstract:
The invention concerns aqueous hybrid binders containing an aqueous polymer dispersion (PD) and 0.01-5 wt. % of a photoinitiator and aqueous alkyd systems containing a water-soluble alkyd resin or an aqueous alkyd or polyurethane emulsion or dispersion, and 0.01-5 wt.% of a photoinitiator, the use thereof in coating agents, in particular paints.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of an aqueous polymer dispersion, which can be obtained by polymerising a composition (1) of compounds (monomers) having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group by means of the radical aqueous polymerisation method up to a conversion rate of at least (90), preferably at least (95) and particularly preferably at least 98% by weight, relative to the monomer composition (1) to be polymerised (polymerisation stage 1) and then, in the presence of the product mixture from polymerisation stage (1), polymerising a composition (2) of compounds (monomers) having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group, according to the method of radical aqueous emulsion polymerisation (polymerisation stage 2) with the proviso that: a) the composition (1) is to be furnished in such a way that a polymer (1) would be obtained solely through statistical co-polymerisation of the composition (1), the glass transition temperature of said polymer being Tg1 >0°C, preferably >10°C, particularly preferably >20°C, b) the composition 2 is to be furnished in such a way that a polymer 2 would be obtained solely through statistical co-polymerisation of the composition 2, the glass transition temperature of said polymer being Tg2 >80°C, preferably >100°C, c) the amount of the difference between Tg1 and Tg2 is at least 50°C, d) in addition to the monomers in compositions 1 and 2, at least one adhesive monomer different from these monomers and containing at least one ethylenically unsaturated group and the element nitrogen, is co-polymerised in a quantity of 0.1 to 10% by weight, preferably 0.5 to 5% by weight, particularly preferably 1 to 3% by weight relative to the overall quantity of the monomers to be polymerised, e) of the total quantity of the adhesive monomers to be co-polymerised in accordance with d), 20 to 100 mo. % by weight is also polymerised in polymerisation stage 1 and f) the quantity of the composition i, which is to be assigned to the lower threshold value Tgi, relative to the overall quantity of compositions 1 and 2, is 60 to 90% by weight, preferably 70 to 85% by weight, g) and in addition to the monomers in compositions 1 and 2, at least one of one monomer different from said monomers, selected from the group of itaconic acid, acetoacetoxyethyl(meth)acrylate (AAEM), acrylonitrile in a quantity of 0.2 to 2% by weight relative to the overall quantity of the monomers to be polymerised, preferably in polymerisation stage (1), is co-polymerised for the coating compositions with improved resistance to chemicals.
Abstract:
The invention relates to aqueous multistage polymer dispersions that can be obtained by radically initiated aqueous emulsion polymerization, having a soft and a hard phase, and a stage ratio of hard to soft from 25 to 95 wt % to 75 to 5 wt %, wherein the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the soft phase is -30 to 0 °C as a first stage and that of the hard phase is 20 to 60 °C as a second stage, comprising at least one monomer of the general formula I, where the variables have the following meanings: n = 0 to 2, R1, R2, R3 = hydrogen or methyl groups, independent of each other, X= O or NH, Y = H, alkali metal, NH 4 . The invention further relates to a method for producing said aqueous polymer dispersions and to the use thereof as binding agents in coatings, and to coatings comprising the polymer dispersions according to the invention.
