The present invention relates to copolymers obtained through condensation of i) 90 to 99.5 mol % of succinic acid, relative to components i to ii; ii) 0.5 to 10 mol % of one or more C 2 -C 8 -dicarboxylic acids, relative to components i to ii; iii) 100 mol % of 1,3 propanediol or 1,4- butanediol, relative to components i to ii, said copolymers having a viscosity number according to DIN 53728 of 100 to 450 mL/g. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for producing the copolymer, to polymer mixtures containing said copolymers and to the use of said copolymers.

A barrier packaging material containing a composite which comprises i) a cellulosic layer; ii) at least one metal layer which will dissolve under alkaline conditions; and iii) at least one polymer layer, in which the polymer is hydrolysable under alkaline conditions. The invention also relates to articles comprising the barrier packaging material. Further, the invention concerns the use of a polymer, which is hydrolysable under alkaline conditions, as a protective layer in barrier packaging products. In addition the present application is also concerned with a method for recycling the aforementioned barrier packaging products. Specifically the barrier packaging products are initially taken in an aqueous wastepaper suspension which is either pulped in an alkaline medium and/or treated in an alkaline medium in a deinking process and in which the metal and polymer are then separated from the cellulosic fibres contained in the cellulosic layer.

The invention relates to the complete anaerobic degradation of polymer mixtures having the following composition : a) 25 - 95 wt.-% of a polyhydroxyalkanoate selected from the group consisting of poly-4-hydroxybutyrates, poly-3-hydroxybutyrates, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerates), poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoates and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrates) and b) 5 - 75 wt.-% of an aliphatic polyester containing : i) 65 -100 mol %, in relation to the components i - ii, succinic acid or a succinic acid derivative; ii) 0 - 35 mol %, in relation to the components i - ii, of an aliphatic C 5 -C 36 -dicarboxylic acid, a corresponding acidic derivative or a mixture; iii) 98 - 100 mol %, in relation to the components i - ii, of a C2-C8-alkylene diol or C2-C6-oxyalkylene diol; iv) 0 - 2 wt.-%, in relation to the polymer obtained from the components i - iii, at least one polyfunctional compound containing at least two isocyanate-, isocyanurate-, oxazoline-or epoxide groups or at least three alcohol-or carboxylic acid groups.

The invention relates to an item produced by means of injection molding, containing: i) 50 to 85 wt%, with respect to the total weight of components i to ii, of a biodegradable polyester having an MVR (190°C, 2.16 kg) according to ISO 1133 of 10 to 100 cm 3 /10 min, containing: a) 90 to 99.5 mol%, with respect to components a to b, of succinic acid; b) 0.5 to 10 mol%, with respect to components a to b, of one or more C 8 -C 20 dicarboxylic acids; c) 98 to 102 mol%, with respect to components a to b, of 1,3-propanediol or 1,4-butanediol; d) 0 to 0.1 wt%, with respect to components a to c, of a chain extender or branching agent; ii) 5 to 50 wt%, with respect to the total weight of components i to ii, of polylactic acid; iii) 10 to 50 wt%, with respect to the total weight of components i to iv, of one or more mineral fillers, wherein at least one filler is chalk; iv) 0 to 2 wt%, with respect to the total weight of components i to iv, of a nutrient salt mixture containing at least two components selected from the group comprising: a cation or anion containing nitrogen, an anion containing sulfur, an anion containing phosphorous, and a cation selected from the group comprising K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, and Fe2/3+.
