An object of the present invention is to provide a comparator which has an input voltage range larger than the case where a conventional offset cancel technique is used, while reducing an offset voltage. A comparator circuit includes: a comparator having an inverting input terminal, a non-inverting input terminal and an output terminal; a first switch having one terminal connected to the inverting input terminal and having the other terminal connected to the output terminal; a first capacitor which has one end connected with the inverting input terminal; a first signal input terminal which is another end of the first capacitor; and a second signal input terminal which selectively inputs either one of a fixed voltage and a comparing signal into the non-inverting input terminal.

The invention is to reduce a color mixing resulting from influence of adjacent pixels. The invention provides a solid-state image pickup apparatus including a plurality of pixels each provided with a photoelectric conversion area, a floating diffusion area for holding a charge outputted from the photoelectric conversion area, an amplifier for amplifying the charge in the floating diffusion area, and a wiring, wherein the wiring is connected with at least the floating diffusion area; and a signal output line for outputting signals from the amplifiers. The solid-state image pickup apparatus also includes a shield line between the wiring of one pixel or the floating diffusion area of one pixel and the signal output line of another pixel adjacent to said one pixel, wherein at least a part of the shield line is formed by a wiring layer same as that of the signal output line, and the shield line has a first portion arranged along the signal output line and a second portion arranged along a direction crossing the signal output line. The invention also provides an image pickup system including said solid-state image pickup apparatus.

The sensor includes a plurality of readout circuits which generate pixel signals based on signals supplied from the pixels of respective columns, a plurality of output channels, a plurality of column selecting switches, and a control circuit which controls the plurality of column selecting switches. The control circuit controls the plurality of column selecting switches so as to output the pixel signals of target readout pixels to output channels selected based on a selection rule in the spatial order of the pixels in the full pixel readout mode. The control circuit controls the plurality of column selecting switches so as to output the thinned-out pixel signals of target readout areas to output channels selected based on the same rule as the selection rule in the spatial order of the areas in the thinning readout mode.
