The invention concerns a solid composition comprising calcium silicate hydrate and at least one water-soluble cationic (co)polymer. Additionally, a process for producing the compositions, in which an aqueous suspension of calcium silicate hydrate, preferably suitable as a setting and curing accelerator for (portland)cement-containing binder systems, is contacted with at least one cationic (co)polymer and the product is dried. Also concerned is the use as setting accelerator in preferably (portland)cement-containing building material mixtures and as grinding assistant in the production of (portland) cement. The invention further concerned building material mixtures comprising the solid compositions of the invention.

The invention relates to a super-absorbent polymer (SAP) with anionic and/or cationic properties, and a time-delayed swelling action generated by polymerisation of ethylenically unsaturated vinyl compounds. Said SAP is characterised in that the swelling thereof begins after a minimum of 5 minutes and is generated by means of at least one method variant selected from the following: a) polymerisation of the monomer constituents in the presence of a combination consisting of at least one hydrolysis-stable cross-linker and at least one hydrolysis-labile cross-linker; b) polymerisation of at least one permanently anionic monomer and at least one hydrolysable cationic monomer; c) coating of a core polymer component with at least one other polyelectrolyte as a sheath polymer; and d) polymerisation of at least one hydrolysis-stable monomer with at least one hydrolysis-labile monomer in the presence of at least one cross-linker. Due to the difference between the three production alternatives in terms of starting materials and method conditions, and also as a result of the possibilities of combining said alternatives, super-absorbent polymers according to the invention can be obtained, that are especially suitable for use in foams, moulded bodies and fibres, and also as carriers for agents regulating plant and fungal growth, and for the controlled release of active substances, or in construction materials. The polymers are especially suitable for using as construction material additives.

The invention relates to hydrophobically associating nanocomposites containing a silica, a hydrophobically modified monomer and a hydrophilic monomer. The silica constituent comprises an aqueous colloid-disperse solution of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), hydrophobically modified monomer (0.1 to 10 % by weight) and hydrophilic monomer (10 to 99.9 % by weight). The production of nanocomposites is carried out by the radical polymerization as a gel polymerization in an aqueous phase. These nanocomposites have a substantially improved effect as water retention agents and rheology modifiers in aqueous building material systems and display improved properties compared to currently used products.

The invention relates to water-soluble copolymers used as water retention agents, stabilizers and rheology modifiers in aqueous building material systems based on hydraulic binders such as cement, lime, plaster, anhydrite etc. and in water-based paint and coating systems. The inventive copolymers are highly effective water retention agents even when used in relatively small amounts. They also exhibit excellent air pore stability and adhesiveness. They can also be used as stabilizers in building material and paint systems.
