Siloxane-based polyamide elastomers can be prepared by heating a reaction mixture containing an olefinic acid and an organic amine to form an organic amide, and reacting the organic amide with a hydride functional polyorganosiloxane in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst to form the siloxane-based polyamide elastomer. The hydride functional polyorganosiloxane contains at least one pendant hydrogen. The elastomers are useful additives in personal care products and can be applied to the hair, the skin, or the underarm. They can also be used to modify thermoplastic nylons, and for treating woven and non-woven textiles, such as air bags, carpeting, and apparel.

Silicone liquid crystals, silicone vesicles, and silicone gels are formed by combining (i) an amine functional silicone or an organic amine compound, (ii) an organic epoxide containing at least two epoxy groups or an epoxy functional silicone containing at least two epoxy groups, and (iii) a fluid such as water, a silicone fluid other than a silicone used in (i) and (ii), and a polar organic compound or nonpolar organic compound other than organic compounds used in (i) and (ii) in which the polar and nonpolar organic compound are present at a concentration to provide a level of solids less than 40 percent by weight based on the weight of (i) - (iii). These silicone liquid crystals, silicone vesicles, and silicone gels are useful in personal care for preparing various skin, hair, and underarm products.

The silicone particles are produced by emulsifying and reacting a composition comprising a siloxane have a first reactive group, a crosslinker having a second reactive group, at least one emulsion liquid, a surfactant and an active ingredient. The active ingredient is encapsulated in the silicone particle and are useful in personal care products, textiles, auto care products, and laundry products for the delivery of active ingredients.

Silicone based liquid crystal and vesicles are prepared by first reacting (A) an =Si-H containing polysiloxane, (B) a mono-alkenyl polyether, in the presence of a platinum catalyst until an =Si-H containing polysiloxane with polyether groups (C) is formed. The =Si-H containing polysiloxane with polyether groups (C) is then reacted with (D) an unsaturated hydrocarbon such as an a,?-dienes, and (E) water, in the presence of a platinum catalyst until the silicone based liquid crystal or vesicle is formed. The silicone based liquid crystal or vesicle can also be heated until a hard liquid crystal gel or vesicle paste are formed.
