    wherein M is Si, Ge or Sn; the groups Y are the same or different and each is R 2 O or R 3 R 4 R 5 SiO; k,ℓ, m and n are the same or different and each is zero or an integer of 1 to 4, provided that (k + t + m + n) is 1 or greater; the groups R 1 are the same or different; and Ri, R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are the same or different and each is cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, hydrogen, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxyl straightchain alkyl, branched chain alkyl or alkenyl; provided that at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , and R 5 is cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl is an effective substance for forming a recording layer on a substrate of an optical recording medium having high sensitivity with good properties.
