Embodiments of the present invention provide a gateway system and a communication method. The gateway system includes: a control plane entity, connected or integrated with a mobility management network element, and configured to allocate an IP address to UE and configure a data path for connecting a user plane entity with an RAN, a PDN or another gateway according to the IP address; one or more user plane entities, located between the PDN and the RAN, independent of the control plane entity, connected with the control plane entity and configured to forward data on the data path configured by the control plane entity. The gateway system of the embodiments of the present invention is composed of the control plane entity and the user plane entity which are independent of each other, the control plane entity takes charge of configuration of the data path, and the user plane entity take charge of data forwarding on the data path, so that the number of the user plane entities may be independently changed to adapt to the change of network traffic without replacing all gateway entities, the network deployment is more convenient and the cost is lower.

An accounting method and system are provided, in which a service flow management (SFM) module receives application layer content information sent from an application function (AF) entity, and then sends the application layer content information to an accounting unit; then, the accounting unit performs accounting according to the application layer content information and a predefined accounting policy. A corresponding accounting system is further provided, in which the transmission of the application layer content information is implemented by adding an accounting extension parameter into a message for saving the application layer content information. Through the invention, the particular content information of the application layer service is reported to the accounting server to perform the different accounting depending upon the content of the application layer service effectively. Additionally, the invention is easily implemented, and makes full use of the existing system, and thus, the cost is reduced.

A method and a system for accounting supporting Quality of Service (QoS) change during a session, and an AAA client and an accounting processing unit are disclosed. The method includes: detecting by an AAA client a QoS change notification of a session; obtaining by the AAA client the accounting information of the session; and sending the accounting information to an accounting processing unit of a AAA server; implementing by the accounting processing unit an accounting operation for the user of the session according to the accounting information. The system includes the AAA client and the accounting processing unit of the AAA server. The AAA client comprises a QoS change detection unit and an accounting information unit. The QoS change detection unit is adapted to detect a message received by the AAA client during a session and send an initiation instruction to the accounting information unit as detecting a QoS change notification; and, the accounting information unit is adapted to obtain and save accounting information as receiving the initiation instruction. The accounting information unit is adapted to obtain and save accounting information as receiving the initiation instruction. By the embodiment of this invention, the accounting for a radio access network user may be more accurate and reasonable.

The method includes: determining, by a CP device, to switch a source anchor gateway; obtaining, by the CP device, location information of a terminal; determining, by the CP device, a target anchor gateway based on the location information; and sending, by the CP device, a modification request message to an SDN controller, where the modification request message includes an identifier of the terminal and an identifier of the target anchor gateway, the modification request message is used to notify the SDN controller to: update, based on the identifier of the terminal and the identifier of the target anchor gateway, a forwarding flow table corresponding to a downlink packet, and send an updated forwarding flow table to an SDN switch, so that the SDN switch forwards the downlink packet to the target anchor gateway based on the updated forwarding flow table, and the target anchor gateway forwards the downlink packet for the terminal. The method is applied to an anchor gateway switching scenario.
