Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate generally to delaying the transmission of a plurality of data packets. A device may enter a packet-delay mode based on an absence of detected user activity and an idle state of a radio. In the packet-delay mode, the device may queue data packets in a buffer so that transmission of those data packets is delayed. The buffered data packets may be released and transmitted upon the occurrence of a predetermined event, such as detection of user activity, exceedance of a buffer threshold, or expiration of a countdown timer. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

Abstract:
Embodiments of an enhanced Node B (eNB) and method to provide system information (SI) updates to user equipment (UE) in sleep or idle mode with an extending paging cycle are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a paging message configured to include an optional field to indicate whether there has been a system information (SI) update since a last paging occasion for a UE in sleep or idle mode with an extending paging cycle. System information updates are transmitted by the eNB during a system information modification period that is shorter than a period the extending paging cycle. The optional field may indicate whether or not the UE is to acquire the latest SI update during the current paging occasion.
Abstract:
A method for switching from a multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) download to a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP)-based delivery of dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) formatted content in an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) network is disclosed. The method can include a service control function (SCF) module receiving a session initiation protocol (SIP) re-invitation from a mobile device while the mobile device is receiving a MBMS download in a content delivery session including DASH formatted content. The SCF module can send a SIP invitation to an HTTP/SIP adapter to select an HTTP server for an HTTP-based delivery. The SCF module can receive a SIP acknowledgement from the HTTP/SIP adapter indicating a selection of the HTTP server for the content delivery session. The SCF module can forward the SIP acknowledgement to the mobile device indicating a switch to the HTTP server for the content delivery session.
Abstract:
Measurement requirements for user equipment may be reduced or eliminated where the user equipment is a fixed device. In such case, the measurement requirement may be less useful. In machine-to-machine communications, bandwidth may be increased and power consumption may be reduced in some embodiments.

Abstract:
Embodiments of a system and method for reporting uplink control information (UCI) are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a first and second component carrier (CC) is provided for a user equipment (UE). The first and second CC are configured with transmission mode (TM) 10 and TMs 1-9, respectively. A first channel state information (CSI) report for the first CC with TM 10 and a second CSI report for the second CC with at least one of TMs 1-9 are scheduled for transmission in a subframe. A collision is detected between the first and second CSI reports. Priority is assigned to the first CSI report or the second CSI report based on a prioritization parameter. The prioritized CSI report is transmitted based the prioritization parameter.
Abstract:
Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a fixed device performs a cell search to search for one or more cells on a network and determines a transmit power level to communicate with one of the cells of the network. The fixed device sets a frequency of updating the transmit power level for communication with a cell on the network, wherein the frequency of updating the transmit power level is reduced for the fixed device with respect to a mobile device.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe devices, methods, computer-readable media and systems configurations for managing state transitions of communication circuitries in wireless networks. Embodiments manage radio resource control (RRC) state transitions and/or discontinuous reception (DRX) state transitions. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for partitioning radio frequency spectrum for multiple categories of communication. Various embodiments may include partitioning of an available frequency band into a first partition for a first category of communication and a second partition for a second category of communication. In embodiments, the first category of communication may be designed for devices having a relatively lower cost of implementation than the second category of communication. In some embodiments, the first partition may be aggregated opportunistically with the second partition based on certain conditions such as, for example, under utilization of the first partition. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for operation of an evolved node B to provide multiple coverage enhancement levels. Various embodiments may include an operational mode configured to provide a first coverage enhancement level associated with user equipments (UEs) that have established communication with the eNB. These embodiments may also include a discovery mode configured to operate at a second coverage enhancement level to discover UEs configured for a higher coverage enhancement level. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
