(A) 60 to 95% by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 20 to 65 mol% and a saponification degree of the vinyl acetate component of at least 96%, (B) 4.5 to 39.5% by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 60 to 98 mol%, and (C) at least 0.5% by weight of a saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 68 to 98 mol% and a saponification degree of the vinyl acetate component of at least 20%, the incorporation ratio of (C) based on the sum of (B) and (C) being not more than 38% by weight. The resin compositions of the present invention have markedly improved flexibility without deteriorating transparency and gas barrier properties as compared with conventional saponified products of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. Multilayered structures comprising at least one layer of the composition have excellent resistance to falling shock, flexural resistance, prevention of air-back, skin-pack adaptability and shrink-packaging capability and are hence of great value for packaging various goods.

A composition comprises a matrix of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer having dispersed therein a drying agent in a particulate state. The volume-area average diameter of the grains of the drying agent having a long diameter of not less than 10µm is not greater than 30µm. A multi-layer structure comprises layers of such a composition. Gas barrier property of the multi-layer structure is hardly reduced after a retort treatment and thus, the multi-layer structure is extremely useful for packaging of food, expecially packaging of retorted food.

Provided are resin compositions comprising the following (A), (B), (C), which is at least one member selected from (C₁) through (C₃), and (D) : (A): a polyolefin, (B): a saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 20 to 65 mol% and a saponification degree of vinyl acetate component of at least 96%, (C): (C₁): at least one inorganic substance selected from titanium oxide, talc, calcium carbonate, mica and absorptive inorganic materials, (C₂): at least one compound selected from the group consisting of metal salts of higher fatty acid having 8 to 22 carbon atoms, metal salts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and hydrotalcite, and (C₃): a polyolefin modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof; and, (D): a saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of 68 to 98 mol% and a saponification degree of vinyl acetate component of at least 20%. The compositions of the present invention have excellent compatibility within themselves and significantly solve the problems, upon molding, of molding instability such as charred resin on screw, generation of lip stain, pressure increase in extruder, abnormal flow and generation of (turbulence) wavy pattern on the surface of molded articles.
