摘要： The present invention provides a method and a device for transferring transmission characteristic information of multimedia data. According to the present invention, characteristic information on media data which can be partitioned into media processing units (MPUs) is generated in a predetermined number of MPUs, and the generated characteristic information and a flag indicative of the existence of the generated characteristic information are inserted into the media data such that the characteristic information is transferred. Thus, since the characteristic information for transmission can be used according to each media data unit of a small time unit, more effective QoS control is possible in a situation when a transmission environment dynamically changes, such as a mobile network.

The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: storing the received video file in a storage format upon receipt of the video file; a step of extracting an encoded video data stream and video data attribute information from the stored video file; a step of extracting samples relevant to an expanded time layer from the extracted video data stream on the basis of the location information of the sample which allows for temporal layer access contailed in the video data attribute information; and a step of restoring and reproducing the extracted samples.
