According to the invention, homogeneous large-size ceramic components may be produced, whereby a cellulose-containing, semi-finished moulded piece comprising fibres, chips or strands of homogeneous density distribution and homogeneous structure is used as semi-finished moulded piece and is pyrolysed in non-oxidising gas atmospheres.
