A method of manufacturing a padded part is provided. The padded part is primarily for use in an item of wear that may be a load-bearing harness or belt. The method includes the steps of providing a first sheet of a flexible material on one side of which is located at least one fastener. A second sheet of flexible material is provided and a layered assembly is created including, in order, the first sheet of material such that said one side of the first sheet is outermost, apiece of mouldable padding, and the second sheet of flexible material. Hot melt adhesive layers are provided between the padding and the sheets of flexible material. The layered assembly is moulded in a press after or during heating of the layered assembly thereby simultaneously bonding the layers of the assembly together and moulding the layered assembly into a predetermined shape.

A continuous process for making a pressure-sensitive adhesive is disclosed. A mixture comprising natural rubber having a Mooney viscosity of 85 to 100, a tackifier, a filler, and 0.1 to 5 wt.% of an added C 12 -C 24 fatty acid based on the amount of mixture is masticated in a first section of a single- or twin-screw extruder. Mastication of the mixture continues in at least one subsequent extruder section in the presence of additional tackifier. The product is a homogeneous, reduced-viscosity pressure-sensitive adhesive. The minor proportion of added C 12 -C 24 fatty acid aids mastication of the rubber and enables high throughput without addition of peptizers. Duct tapes made from the adhesives display improved adhesion to steel, better adhesion bond strength, and enhanced seven-day clean removability from even difficult substrates such as marble or ceramic tile.

By covering the lid cover with the foaming adhesive, a direct contract between a barrel body and the lid cover can be prevented, frictions and rust of a barrel opening are reduced, the seal performance is enhanced, the structure is simple, and the foaming adhesive injection is convenient.
