Structural components that are contaminated with corrosion products are often reused, therefore the corrosion product (10) has to be removed. Conventional methods for doing so are time-consuming as the reaction times with the corrosion product are often very long. According to the invention, the corrosion product is pretreated by exposing it to salt, thereby producing a larger working surface, so that the corrosion product (10) can be removed more rapidly. Sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) and/or cobalt sulfate (CoSO4) are used for the salt exposure.
