A process for the production of a cyclopentenol compound represented by the formula I:
wherein R₁ represents a 2-propenyl group or a 2-propynyl group, which comprises the steps of;
(i) protecting the hydroxyl group of the cyclopentenolone compound II: wherein R₁ is the same as defined above to give a cyclopentenolone derivative represented by the formula III: wherein R₁ is the same as defined above and A is a protecting group for a hydroxyl group; (ii) reacting a mixture of zinc and dibromomethane or diiodomethane in an inert organic solvent with titanium tetrachloride; (iii) reacting the resulting reaction mixture with a cyclopentenolone derivative III to give a cyclopentenol derivative IV: wherein R₁ and A are the same as defined above; and (iv) removing the protecting group A from the cyclopentenol derivative represented by the formula IV to give the cyclopentenol compound I.

The present invention provides a fluoropropene compound represented by Formula I: wherein R 1 represents various organic groups defined in the description; Z represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or NR 17 in which R 17 represents a hydrogen atom or a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group; R 2 , R 3 and R 4 independently represent a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group, a C 1 -C 3 haloalkyl group, a halogen atom or a hydrogen atom, provided that R 2 , R 3 and R 4 do not simultaneously represent a hydrogen atom; r represents an integer of 0 to 2; and X represents a halogen atom. These compounds are endowed with insecticidal activity. Intermediate compounds for the preparation of the above compounds are also provided.

There is disclosed a dihalopropene compound of the formula I:
wherein l is an integer of 1 to 5; m is an integer of 1 to 4; R¹'s and R²'s are the same or different and are independently halogen or various other groups; D is oxygen, NH or sulfur, X's are the same or different and are independently chlorine or bromine; Y is oxygen or various other groups, Z, P and Q are the same or different and are independently nitrogen or CH, provided that P and Q are not simultaneously nitrogen, and when Y is sulfur, Z is CH. Also disclosed is an insecticide/acaricide comprising the dihalopropene compound as an active ingredient. The dihalopropene compound exhibits excellent insecticidal/acaricidal action. Further disclosed is an intermediate compound for use in the production of the dihalopropene compound.

The present invention provides an ester compound represented by a formula I:
wherein R₁ denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R₂ represents a 1-methyl-2-propenyl group, a 1-methyl-2-propynyl group, a 3,3-dihalogeno-1-methyl-2-propenyl group, or a C₁-C₁6 alkyl group which may be substituted with at least one halogen atom; and R₃ represents an acid residue of pyrethroids. The invention also relates to an active agent for controlling noxious insect pests containing the ester compound as an active ingredient, an intermediate for production of the ester compound and a process for producing the intermediate. The ester compound represented by the formula I has good activities for controlling noxious insect pests.
