According to said method, the thin-walled ball socket (7) is filled with the lubricant (9), the spherical head (4) of the ball pivot (2) is then introduced into the thin-walled ball socket (7) filled with lubricant (9), and the spherical head (4) thus provided with the thin-walled ball socket (7) is introduced into the housing (10). The free space between the thin-walled ball socket (7) and the housing (10) is filled with a material for forming a bearing shell (5). The inventive ball-and-socket joint (1) is characterised by the use of a preformed plastic film as a thin-walled ball socket (7).

In one such ball-and-socket joint, the inner region (2) has ribs and/or cavities (7), or a polygonal cross-section, along its inner envelope surface (6), such that the bearing shell (3), which has an overmeasure in relation to the inner envelope surface (6), can be inserted into the housing (1) in a positively locking manner, with partial plastic deformation of the outer surface thereof. The inner envelope surface (6) can thus comprise pressure areas (19) which reduce the effective length of the ribs and/or cavities (7).
