The invention relates to a method and control system to control the speed of a centrifugal compressor operating within a vacuum pressure swing adsorption process to avoid an operation at which surge can occur and directly driven by an electric motor that is in turn controlled by a variable frequency drive. The claimed method determines the optimal speed for operation of the compressor along a peak efficiency operating line of a compressor map thereof. Speed of the compressor is adjusted by a feed back speed multiplier when the flow or other parameter referable to flow through the compressor is below a minimum and a feed forward multiplier during evacuation and evacuation with purge steps that multiplies the feed back multiplier to increase speed of the compressor and thereby avoid surge.
Abstract:
A method and systems for adsorbing contaminants from a gas stream are provided herein. The method includes flowing the gas stream into a treating vessel and through a moving bed of adsorbents. The method includes flowing the adsorbents out of the treating vessel and into a fluidized bed of a regenerator. The method includes desorbing the contaminants from the adsorbents in the fluidized bed of the regenerator to form regenerated adsorbents. The method further includes cooling the adsorbents and returning the cooled, regenerated adsorbents to the treating vessel.

The housing provides an air flow path for the flow of air in a downstream direction, from the inlet towards the outlet. Particulate pre-filtration is located within the housing downstream from the air inlet. VOC pre-filtration is located within the housing downstream from the particulate pre-filtration. UV filtration is located within the housing downstream from the VOC pre-filtration. VOC post-filtration is located within the housing downstream from the UV filtration. Final particulate filtration is located within the housing downstream from the VOC post-filtration.

The invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for removing gaseous elementary mercury from a stream of gas and to an arrangement for carrying out the method. The arrangement comprises a first washing tower (2) for receiving a stream of gas, a second washing tower (6) for receiving a stream of once processed gas (5) from the first washing tower (2), and a third washing tower (9) for receiving a stream of twice processed gas (23) from the second washing tower (6) and configured for discharging a stream of cleaned gas (12).
Abstract:
Compared to prior art processes the process of the invention requires less energy input. The process of the invention is particularly suitable for producing a carbon dioxide enriched gas for accelerating plant growth in a greenhouse.
