The invention relates to a method for preparing decontaminated natural rubber. The method is characterised in that it includes a decontamination step in which wet natural rubber coagulum is passed through a system comprising an extruder and a filter installed at the extruder outlet, said extruder having an axially symmetrical grooved sheath provided with grooves in its thickness that open at the inner surface of the sheath. The method is also characterised in that the sheath is such that, in any plane perpendicular to the axis of the sheath, with R (expressed in mm) being the distance between the centre of the sheath and the inner surface of the sheath: a. the ratio (total length of the groove openings, expressed in mm)/(2πR), denoted A, is at least equal to 0.25 and at most equal to 0.9; b. the ratio (number of grooves/2R), denoted B, is greater than or equal to 0.1; c. the ratio (depth of grooves expressed in mm)/(2R), denoted C, is greater than 0.02; and d. the plane that passes through the two bottom edges forms, together with each plane passing through a bottom edge and an intersection edge, defining a side face, an angle δ at least equal to 60° and at most equal to 90°.

The object of the invention is to fix a screen, which is wound on the outer periphery of a tubular receiving member having gas vent ports, with annular metal fixtures and prevent a fine powder raw material from leaking to the outside. The screw-type fine powder raw material feeding device in accordance with the present invention includes a screen (5) wound on the outer periphery of a tubular receiving member (21) and a plurality of annular metal fixtures (23) for bringing the screen (5) into close contact with the tubular receiving member (21) side. A gap (D) between the screen (5) and an outer diameter of a screw (2) is set to 1 mm to 10 mm, only a gas separated from the fine powder raw material is discharged to the outside from the gas vent ports (20), and the fine powder raw material is fed into a cylinder (1a), with no fine powder raw material being leaked to the outside from the screen (5). A polymer filtration apparatus for sealing a slide plate translatable across a bore of an extrusion or mold machine, includes an annular seal having a sealing surface which is biased against the slide plate by a spring mechanism. The annular seal has a thrust surface which is angled relative to the sealing surface and the thrust surface is located at an opposite axial end of the annular seal from the sealing surface. The spring mechanism can be a single spring with overlapping tangs or a multiple spring assembly in overlapping relationship, with or without tangs, to form a continuous barrier. The spring assembly is used to exert a radial force against the thrust surface of the annular seal to bias the seal in an axial direction against the downstream slide plate. In operation, pressurized polymer melt in the extrusion bore further biases the spring against the annular seal which is then transferred to the seal and the slide plate.
