An external line extends through the working chamber having a plurality of gas openings for the introduction of sterile air into the working chamber and that an internal line extends into the external line having a plurality of openings for spraying a cleaning medium. An annular chamber extends in a longitudinal direction between the internal and the external line. The cross-sectional area of the annular chamber varies in the longitudinal direction so that an even distribution of sterile air emerging from the gas openings into the working chamber is achieved.

Provided is a package filling apparatus, which forms a webbed packaging material (1) into a tube shape, longitudinally seals the tube overlapped at the two end portions of the packaging material in the longitudinal direction thereof, fills the inside of the tubular packaging material (1) continuously transferred vertically downward, with a liquid food from a filling pipe (7) up to a liquid level (37) of a predetermined position above the exit of the filling pipe, transversely seals the tube while the tube is being clamped and drawn downward below the liquid level in the transverse direction of the tube by a seal jaw (10a) and a counter jaw (11), preparatorily shapes the tube by clamping the tube simultaneously with shaping flaps, and cuts the tube at the transversely sealed band, thereby to manufacture the packaged container. The package filling apparatus keeps the pressure of the filled liquid food in the tube positive, to facilitate the preparatory shaping by the shaping flap, so that the pressure of the liquid food can be prevented from dropping to a negative pressure, even if the liquid food pressure is lowered by the fluctuations thereof, thereby to prevent an external ambient substance from entering the tube. The package filling apparatus comprises a positive pressure keeping means for suppressing the fluctuations of the pressure of the liquid food in the tube below a pressure flange (36), so that the liquid food pressure can be prevented from dropping to the negative pressure, thereby to keep the liquid food pressure positive.
