The invention provides a building material composition which is particularly suitable for use as a bitumen-free sealant for construction sealing and comprises a polymer dispersion or a corresponding redispersion powder, based in particular on preferably aqueously redispersible emulsion polymers, together with polystyrene particles, ceramic and synthetic hollow microspheres, and also, if desired, at least one binder and, if desired, further additives. The sealant of the invention can be formulated in principle as a 1-component or 2-component application system. The bitumen-free building material composition of the invention not only has excellent sealing properties, such as can conventionally be achieved only with bituminous sealants, but also, in particular, an excellent contraction behaviour after application.

An embodiment provides a method of remedial cementing in a subterranean formation comprising: providing a lightweight settable composition comprising pumice, a calcium activator, and water, wherein the lightweight settable composition has a density of less than about 13.5 pounds per gallon and is free of Portland cement; and using the lightweight settable composition in a remedial cementing method to seal one or more voids in a well bore.
