Abstract:
A particulate wetting and hydrophobing additive comprising components a) and b), where: component a) is a disiloxane having structure (I) Where R2 is selected from a branched or linear hydrocarbon group of 2 to 10 carbons, a substituted branched or substituted linear hydrocarbon group of 2 to 10 carbons, an aryl group, a substituted aryl group and an optionally substituted alkyl hydrocarbon group of 4 to 9 carbons containing aryl substituents of 6 to 20 carbons; R1, R3, R4 and R5 are each independently selected from the monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 4 carbons, substituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, aryl, and a hydrocarbon group of 6 to 20 carbons containing an aryl group; Z is a linear or branched divalent hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R8 is selected from OH, H, monovalent hydrocarbon groups of 1 to 6 carbons and acetyl, each of the sub scripts a, b and c are zero or positive provided that a+b+c≧1; and component b) is a carrier.
Abstract:
A dry powdered flowable cement composition contains calcium carbonate and a partially decarbonated magnesium carbonate. A slurry of the composition will set hard with various organic fillers including waste products and toxic waste. The composition can be slurried with contaminated water such as sea water, mineral laden ground water ans muddy water. A high percentage of filler can be added while still having an acceptable set.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Gypsum plasterboard is produced by combining calium sulphate hemihydrate (stucco) with water to form an aqueous slurry. Uncalcined gypsum having a specific surface area below 0.3 m2/g is added to the slurry and the slurry is discharged onto a support so as to form a sheet of gypsum plasterboard.
Abstract:
In a method of processing sulphur-contaning residue and fly ash into cured granules, the residue is mixed with fly ash and water to make a mixture, the mixture is granulated and the granules are heated to effect curing. In the granulatable mixture, the amount of fly ash is not more than 20% by weight relative to the total amount of said fly ash and the residue. A cementless mortar is made from fly ash, by mixing fly ash with [chalk] lime and other components to form a mixture containing by weight
(i) fly ash : maximum 85% (ii) optionally, an amount of sand not exceeding the amount of fly ash (iii) (chalk) lime : 6 - 12% (iv) other components : remainder, and maintaining the pH of the mixture in the range 12.8 - 13.4. This mortar and the granules are combined to make a building block.
